Chapter 18: Playground

Chapter 18

Peeta's P.O.V.

Not until three weeks later, Katniss is allowed to leave the hospital.

Clove told me that the doctors still does not know why Katniss heartbeat started beating so dramatically and dangerously fast that day.

God I were so afraid that she were going to have a heart attack or something. Her heart beat was freakishly high.

Right now I walk with Sebastian and Kaia. She's in her stroller, sitting up and looks around as we walk.

We walk towards the playground, she loves the playground. She's soon turning one, so she's staring to get big now. It's pretty warm outside so I dressed her in a pink cute dress with primroses on and a really cute pink headband with a primrose on. When we bought the dress, the headband came along with it. On her feet I put on her pink sandals. She's so cute and she laughs, looking around.

I feel so bad for my baby sister. She will have such a hard time in school, because she has Downs, but every little kid that's bullying her is going to have to go through me.

We stop at the playground and I pick Kaia up in my arms.

"Do you want to play with the swings?" I ask her in a baby voice.

She just laughs and Sebastian burst out laughing as well.

"You know she loves the swing", he says, staring to walk over to the swings.

I walk after him and put down Kaia in the baby swing beside the swing that Sebastian sits on. Sebastian smiles as he starts to swing slowly back and forth, not leaving the ground with his feet, looking at Kaia.

"Hey baby girl, big brother is here", he says waving from his swing.

Kaia starts to wave really clumsy with both her hands as she laughs towards Sebastian.

I smile. She's so cute.

"Peeta!"

I turn around and see the guys coming.

"Oh here's our little princess", Cato says to Kaia and kisses her forehead.

I laugh and shake my head. Cato is such a girl sometimes. Seriously if Glimmer had seen this, she would be even more in love with Cato.

"Hey guys", Sebastian says.

"Hey, we were just going to your house", Marvel says.

"Yeah, how come you're here?" Finnick asks.

"Mom started to scream at home, how she regret having Kaia, how she regret every little thing with Kaia, how she just wants to choke her", I say with a raspy voice.

Cato's eyes get so big, when he hears this. But he's not the only one getting upset, the others are as well.

"God I can't believe her", Marvel says angrily. "It's her daughter for god's sake!"

"Is she even a human?" Cato asks.

I laugh at this. I've asked myself the same thing my whole life. I hate her, I always have and I always will. She's a terrible woman. A woman that makes children cry. Kaia is the only baby that is not screaming in her presence. I think that Kaia somehow feels that it's her mom and she's not afraid. She will be one day though. And I'm not longing for that day to come at all.

"Probably not", Sebastian mutters.

"How could anyone want to hurt this little bundle if sunshine and happiness?" Finnick asks.
