Chapter 26: So real

Chapter 26

Katniss P.O.V.

"Where's Peeta?" I ask.

Delly laughs in my face.

"If he's not mine, he's not anyone's", Delly says. "And now I've arranged that".

I feel a knot start to build inside my stomach.

"Where is he?" I yell.

"Not here, not anywhere", she says evilly.

"What do you mean about that?" I demand to know.

"Oh why do you want to know that Katpiss?" Delly asks sounding fake interested.

"He's my boyfriend you twisted psycho", I yell in her face.

"Not anymore, he's not anyone's boyfriend anymore", Delly says devilish.

"Where the hell is he Delly?" I yell, feeling how the knot grows bigger and bigger.

"Follow me", Delly says and starts walking.

I hesitate for a few second before I decide to follow the evil witch.

She walks all through town and towards the woods. She walks right into the woods. She walks through it and up to a fence.

Is she going to the meadow?

How does she even know about the meadow and how to get there? No one but me knows about the meadow. And why the hell would she even go through the woods? She's a Barbie doll, she hates the woods. She hates everything besides cities that has shops and low carb, no sugar, fat free, vanilla soya lattes. Why would she walk through the woods where there's mud, trees and clean air?

She walks up to the fence where it is bend open and go through it. I follow her, still wondering how the hell she knows about this place.

She walks to the meadow and walks towards the big willow tree in the middle of the big and wide meadow.

Just by the willow I see that the ground has been trenched and the mud just put back down, so it's only mud.

Then. Then I see it. A hand sticking up through the mud. I recognize that big, soft hand. Because that hand is the one always holding mine. wipes away my tears and caresses my cheek. I see that it moves weakly.

"PEETA!" I roar and throw myself on my knees and starts to dig with my bare hands. "PEETA! NOOOO PEETA HOLD ON!"

I just dig and dig. I get all dirty but I just don't care. I cry as I dig and try to reach Peeta. The hand has stopped moving but I've found his whole arm now.

"PEETA HOLD ON BABY, I'M COMING, HOLD ON!" I roar as I dig and dig.

I hear Delly laugh.

"YOU'RE THE MOST TWISTED AND SICKEST PERSON I'VE EVER MET!" I roar at her as I dig and dig and dig.

"As I said, if I can't have him, no one will", she says and runs off.

"Baby hold on, hold on Peeta, I'm coming, I'm coming", I say as I reach him. I drag him out of the mud and sit down on my butt with Peeta in my arms.

He doesn't breath. I can't feel a pulse. Not any sign of life at all.

"PEETA, NOOOO DON'T LEVAE ME, YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDN'T SO PLEASE DON'T", I roar with the tears flowing and it drops down onto Peeta's face, making lines through the dirt. "BABY PLEASE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!"

"Katniss..."

I've lost the one I love. The love of my life. I've lost my best friend, and my boyfriend. He's both to me.

"Katniss..."

"PEETAAAAA", I cry so hard I can hardly breath. "PEETA PLEASE COME BACK TO ME!"

"Katniss!"

Everything disappears.

I open my eyes and feel a burn in my throat.

I look up and see all of the girls stand there and look worried at me.

Clove is the one standing on her knees beside my bed.

"I need Peeta", I cry. "PEETA!"

"I'll go and call him", Glimmer says and walks out of the room.

"PEETA!" I yell and cry into my pillow.

The girls try to get me to show my face and stop crying and yell.

"Katniss please, it was just a nightmare".

"Peetaaaa..." I cry into my pillow, not wanting to hear what Clove says.

"She's in here!" I hear Glimmer shout and then some running steps.

I feel how Clove takes her hands off my shoulder. Then a pair of other hands touch my shoulders. I know those hands.

I take up my face from my pillow and are met by the beautiful clear ocean deep blue eyes of my boyfriend.

"Peeta", I cry and throw my arms around his neck and hug him so tight, never ever wanting to let go of him.

The girls leave the room and Peeta picks me up in his arms and lays down in my bed.

"Shhh baby it was only a nightmare", Peeta says trying to calm me down. "Shhh".

"You were dead", I cry. "Delly had buried you alive, I didn't get to you in time, I'm so sorry".

"No Katniss shhhh, I'm not dead, that did not happen, it was a dream, it was a nightmare, I safe and sound, and you're safe and sound, everything is okay baby", Peeta says and rocks me soothing. "It's all okay, everything is okay baby".

"I love you so much, I can't bare the thought of ever losing you again Peeta", I say in a small voice with my head on his chest.

"I love you too baby, and I won't ever leave you, I promise that will never happen again", Peeta says and kisses my forehead.

But I'm not satisfied with that so I lift my head a bit so I can reach his lips. But I don't. Peeta gets it though and leans down to meet my lips.

His lips are so warm and soft. I love to kiss him. I feel how alive he is and that what I saw was only a dream. But I can't shake the feeling of how real it felt, it really did feel so real.

I can never lose Peeta again, I wouldn't be able to handle that.
