"Hello Maddie." Mikey says as i sit down in first period. "Hey."
"Weren't you going to wear your new clothes today? I've seen that shirt before." He claims. "I know, sorry. I packed them all." I smile and pull out my math notebook.
"Can i sit with you?" Michael asks. I nod, "Of course."
Mikey smiles and sits down next to me, twirling a pencil between his fingers. "How do you do that?" I question.
"Oh it's easy. Here, you put your fingers here.. Then move this finger, and this one.." Michael instructs. After five minutes i'm finally able to do it. I silently groan as i have to adjust my glasses. Oh yeah, i am going to pick up contacts tonight.. Finally.
Before i know it the class is over. "See you at lunch, Mads." Mike calls as he walks the opposite direction. I wave and walk to my next period.
Almost an hour passes and it's third period. History. With Luke. I smile at the thought of being in the same room as Luke. I am really excited for this road trip...
But wait. Oh god... What about my grades? And school? Ahh!
Hold up, Maddie... Do you really want to be known as the goodie goodie? The girl who never had fun? The teachers pet?
Of course not. I'm just going to go with the flow.. Forget about school... Ehh... I shake the thoughts out of my head before i can overthink it and step into my history class.

I walk down the stairs and to my mothers room. "Mum?" I call before walking in. "What the hell do you want, Maddie?" She snaps. "I was just seeing if you needed anything.." I reply.
"Yeah i do need something.. Get over here!" She yells. I nod and quietly walked over to her. I knew this was a bad idea. Mum grabs ahold of my hair and pulls me to her so our faces are leveled.
"Get me more beer." She demands.
"No." I reply and wait for the slap. There it is.. "Excuse me?" She gasps.
"I said no." I repeat and pull away. "Then get the fuck out! If you won't listen then have your shit packed and be out of this house before i get home!" She yells and stands up, slapping me once more before grabbing her keys off the nightstand and leaving her room.
I knew that she'd say something like that.. That's why i said no. I run up to my room and take my bag from under my bed. I take one last look at my childhood bedroom and slip out my door. I sure won't miss the rest of the house though.
I whisper a goodbye and close the door behind me. Off to Ashton's or Michaels? What if they aren't home? Eh, i'll try Ashton's first.
I start to whisper the lyrics to one of my favorite songs.
"You look so beautiful. No one but me knows you're insane. I feel so damn pathetic. My friends just don't get it.
Cause you've got me under oath. Before you I was in a fucking rut. One day you are in the past. That night I ask you back
It started out just harmless fun. Now you've got me thinking you are the one." I hum the chorus as i walk up to Ashton's door.
I knock this time instead of just walking in. "Hey Mads." Mikey says as the door opens. "Hey Mikey.. Uhm, my mum kinda kicked me out. I need to talk to Ashton." I tell him and walk inside.
"Ash!" I call. "Yup?"
"My mum kicked me out!" I exclaim and hug him. "Do you care if i stay here? You know, like live with you..?" I ask him. "Of course! You don't even have to ask!" Ashton exclaims and hugs me back.
There was a knock on the door and Ash pulled away. "Luke is here!" He exclaims making my face go red.
"Aw! Maddie has a crush!" Mikey teases. "Shut up!" I beg and sit on the couch. My mind drifts off to when i met Luke.
"Okay class, you may have the last fifteen minutes to do whatever you'd like." Mr. Jacobson announces and sits at his desk, picking up a magazine. I take my book from my bag and open to the last page i was on, only to be interrupted by someone.
"Hello, I'm Luke." A tall, gorgeous blonde boy said as he sat down next to me in my History class. "I'm Maddie." I reply and continue to read Pride and Prejudice. "Whatcha readin'?" Luke questions and snatches the book from my hands. "Ugh, leave me alone!" I beg and reach for my old book.
He smirks and sets it down in front of me. "Why are you reading such an old book? This thing is ancient!" He exclaims and taps the cover. "Because i like it." I tell him and shove my book into the bag. "Nice glasses." He comments and smiles. "Thanks..." I mumble and adjust them so they sit comfortably on the bridge of my nose.
"Aren't you the bad boy that lives on my street? You know, the one who skips school, smokes, always up to no good with your friends?" I ask Luke. He chuckles, "Aren't you the good girl? The one who never misses school, is always home on time and studies all night?" Luke smirks.
I roll my eyes at him and pick at my nails. "Kind of. But it's called being smart."
"It's called being a nerd." He replies with a smile. I roll my eyes again and sit back. "Why are you even talking to me?" I question. "Because you're interesting..." Luke smiles and pokes my cheek. I laugh with him and stand when the bell rings.
"I guess i'll see you tomorrow." He says before walking off.
That's when the tall, gorgeous blonde from History class first took a piece of my heart.
