A smudge of green caught the magenta eyes of the green raccoon. The raccoon had lime fur, with mint green around her eyes and forming stripes on her tail, and yellow-lime fur on her chest and belly. Her clothing consisted of the usual camouflage uniform as the other soldiers.
Peering into the darkened room, she remained silent, keeping the steps of her boots as quiet as possible. Her nocturnal eyes immediately adapting. The green blur instantly became a figure. A familiar one, at that. Her eyes made out a green bear. His fur was a light green, and his eyes were a gorgeous golden colour.
"I thought I told you to get some rest," she chuckled, leaning against the door frame. The bear practically jumped out of his fur. His head snapped towards her, before he smiled.
"U- umm... hi, Jitter..." he mumbled awkwardly."Hello, Flippy," she greeted, approaching him. He smiled sweetly at her, innocence painted on his face. It was that innocence which pushed her towards her choice...
"So, why you up?" She asked, kneeling down. Flippy's smile and ears stopped, eyes shifting."We were restless, a- and h- he suggested a b- bit of training to b- burn some energy... i- I'm sorry..." he whimpered, lowering his head apologetically.
"Aww, Flips. You know you have nothing to apologise for. Insomnia's a bitch," the raccoon shrugged, bushy tail twitching from a slight chuckle. Flippy nodded in agreement, giggling with her.
"B- but, s- still... you and S- Switchy told me to sleep..." Flippy sighed, "i- I should trust your j- judgement over his..."Wow. Rude. A low voice chuckled in his mind. He resisted giggling at his alter's mocking offence.
"What!? Of course not! It's good you trust him. He's a part of you!" Jitter explained, Flippy still not convinced. There was an awkward silence until Jitter spoke.
"You mind if... I talk to him? It's really important, and he'll be able to explain it better to you than me," Jitter requested."Uhh... well..." Flippy started, before the voice spoke again. Flips, trust me on this. She wouldn't ask to speak with me if it weren't important. After all, I'm only your go to guy.
"O- ok..." Flippy murmured. He hated these moments. Unlike Switchy, he and his counterpart hadn't learnt how to take control properly, due to the circumstances. Flippy's PTSD from WAR life was always the trigger for the switch. Though, they had learnt to communicate, despite how strange it always felt.
"You ready?" She asked, holding up a gun."...R- ready..." Flippy whimpered, tears welling in his clenched eyes.
Bang!
