Hide And Seek

Crunch, crunch, crunch. Dried leaves crunched under boots. The bear sighed. He'd come all this way, yet he'd got no answers. Why would He attack Lumpy? There really wasn't anything about Lumpy that was threatening. Even his antlers looked harmless.

Flippy felt his throat clog up as he whimpered. He still felt awful about what He'd done. Lumpy's antler was still upside-down, and still sore when something touched it. It was his fault. Wether he did it or not, he was still to blame.
"Flippy!?" He heard a familiar voice call out. His ears perked up, and he turned around, seeing a pink beaver approaching him.

"Hello, Toothy," Flippy replied, smiling slightly.

"What are you doing here?!" The beaver exclaimed, truly suprised to see Flippy, who he knew for preferring the safety of his home than wandering in the open alone. He was rather paranoid after all.

"Just stretching my legs. You?" Flippy explained, shrugging his shoulders casually.

"I'm playing hide and seek with Petunia and Flaky. You can join next round if you want," Toothy smiled, not convinced with Flippy's story, but trusting him to tell the truth.

"Uh... i- I, uhh..." Flippy stammered, biting his lip anxiously, his relaxed demeanour completely gone, replaced with undeniable trepidation.

"Hey, it's ok if y-" Toothy began, before Flippy nodded quickly, albeit hesitantly.
"Great! The fresh air will do you good. Let me just find the others," Toothy beamed, happy Flippy agreed to spend time outside, "and remember. If you change your mind and wanna go home, no one will be upset." Flippy nodded in understanding, before Toothy went off to find the others.

(- Time Skip. I'm running out of jokes :, (... -)

Toothy had finally arrived with the other two, who were more than happy to have Flippy playing too.
"I vote Flippy to seek!" Petunia giggled, Flippy's ear twitching in anxiety. Everyone agreed, and Flippy didn't have the heart to argue, especially with how excited they seemed to have him seek.

Flippy turned around, leaning against a large oak, burying his face into his arm as he began counting loudly.
"One... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine..."

Taptaptaptaptaptaptap! A woodpecker had began pecking on a nearby tree, immediately catching Flippy's attention. To him, it sounded so much like...

Flippy whimpered in fear, cowering against the tree, not daring to move. He felt himself slipping away from reality.

Toothy peeked from behind a tree, not seeing Flippy where he was counting. Did he say 'ready or not, here I come'? Brushing it off as not hearing him, he snickered silently. That was, until he heard a bush rustling next to him. He remained still, in case it wasn't Flippy. Luckily, it wasn't. A small rabbit jumped out, before fleeing from seeing him. Sighing, he waited.

Harshly, a paw slapped over his mouth, and another clutching his throat. Toothy let out a muffled wail, struggling against whoever was grabbing him. Yet, their grip remained firm. Whoever it was, they certainly had quite the grip. Toothy had managed to move his head slightly, freeing a bit of his mouth. Hastily, he bit onto the paw, his buck teeth digging into the flesh. The attacker yelped, shoving him forward onto the ground.

Toothy groaned, pushing himself up. He turned around, not seeing anyone. Who grabbed him? And, more importantly, where did they go? He had to find the others, and fast.

Flaky panted as she continued sprinting. Finally, she stopped, giggling slightly. She'd reached her usual hiding place, where she sat. Before she could climb into the bush, a vine dropped down in front of her. She hummed in confusion. Then, it hooped around her neck, something pulling it up sharply, the vine pressed against her throat. She gasped, her throat completely blocked off as she struggled, lifted above the ground

Petunia screamed, seeing Flaky being chocked by the vine. She was unsure of what to do. Darting over, she tried to reach the vine to free her, but she couldn't reach.
"Flaky!" Toothy yelled, appearing from the dense forest into the small clearing. He lifted Petunia up, who removed the vine from Flaky's neck. The porcupine had fainted from either lack of air, fear, or both.
"Shit! She's out cold! Where's Flippy?" Toothy, asked, only receiving a shrug from Petunia. That was, until she gasped, pointed behind Toothy, who turned to see what she wanted him to. Next to a tree stood Flippy. His hoodie sleeves had been rolled up, and head fur a mess, covering his lowered face. He wore fingerless gloves, as always, but his fists were clenched. He was panting, ears drew back. He had a hostile aura about him.

The bear startled the two as he tackled Petunia, shoving her into a tree. She groaned, falling onto the ground, looking up at him. His eyes twitched, and his mouth in a sadistic grin. He'd 'flipped out', the name they'd given to his episodes. He chuckled, voice dull, yet insane.

The bear was shoved to his side by Toothy, who helped Petunia up. They stared at Flippy, who groaned and pushed himself up. In fear, Petunia elbowed him, absolutely terrified. That was, until Flippy whimpered in pain, his teary eyes meeting them.
"F- Flippy?" Petunia gasped, realising she'd just attacked him, "I'm so sorry!"

Flippy laughed softly, getting to his feet. He patted her shoulder reassuringly.
"Hey, it's ok. You did what you had to. Are you ok?" Flippy asked in concern, rubbing his stomache where he'd been elbowed.

"W- we're fine... Flaky!" She yelled suddenly, running back to the unconscious porcupine, followed by the two boys. Flippy saw her unconscious, and bit his lip, quick to realise he'd done that.
"Let's go to my house," Petunia stated, the other two nodding, and Flippy gently picking her up, thankful she was ok.

It's ok. Just. Stay. Calm. Again, what set Him off? Why can't He just go away?..
