After a few weeks, winter break was finally here, and I had planned a trip for the whole month with some of the international students. I was packing up in my room and a light knock was heard.
-Come in- I said while I hummed the song that was playing on my laptop.
-Hey- said Haru coming in,- need some help?
-Not really, I'm almost done, but you can keep me company- I said smiling.
He nodded and close the door behind him.
-What are you listening to?
-"Welcome to the madness"
Haru listened to the song for a few seconds.
-It does sound like madness.
-Yeah- I said grinning.
-I didn't know you liked this kind of music- he said.
-I don't like it so much, but this one...is special.
-Why?
-It's a song from a friend.
-You have a famous friend?
-Sort of.
Haru tilted his head a little and arched an eyebrow.
-He's a famous ice skater from Russia, and sometimes he sends me videos of his choreographies. So a friend of his made a song for him to dance to on the next championship- I explained.
-And that song is this one.
-Exactly. Hey wanna see the video?- I said grabbing my laptop excitedly.
He nodded.
-There you go.
He focused his eyes on the screen without any emotion. The only thing he did was looking slightly surprised when Otabek took off Yuri's gloves to the rhythm of the song.
-Sometimes I see him in you Haru- I said when the video ended.
-Why?
-Because he looks as free on the ice as you do in the water- I said smiling. My head full of memories with Yuri.
He moved his eyes away from mine and smiled shyly. I played another song while I put the last pair of socks inside the suitcase, before closing it.
-You leave in the morning?- he asked.
-Afternoon.
-That's better.
-Why better?
-I have more time with you- he said shrugging.
I smiled and took the suitcase and left it by my bedroom door.
-Do you like him?- he asked suddenly.
-Uh? Who?- I frowned.
-Rin, of course.
-If I didn't, I wouldn't hang out with him.
-I mean romantically.
-What?- my eyes widened and a smile threatened to appear.
Haru didn't respond, he was just expecting an answer, studying my face inch by inch.
-You should just drop the subject already- I said.
-You seem really happy whenever you're with him. Rin talks about you a lot, and you talk about him a lot too...
-Yeah, but it's nothing like that. We're just friends. You know it.
-Do I?
-Oh, c'mon Haru- I said rolling my eyes.
-Everyone thinks you both are dating in secret.
WHAT?
-And you believe that?
-I didn't, but I figured I should asked you directly.
-I'm not dating anyone and I don't intend to do so this year.
-Then by January you'll date Rin?
I facepalmed.
-I meant my year abroad. Geez Haru, you're missing the point. I'm just having fun, that's all I wanna do here.
-You can have fun with Rin, he's pretty amusing. But of course you already knew that- he smirked. He fucking smirked.
-What's with you and all the sassiness today?
-Maybe it's because I haven't eaten yet...
-It's early for dinner- I said glancing at my watch.- But we can have a snack, let's go- I took my wallet and walked to the door.
He nodded and followed me to the nearby store.

Few hours later, after having dinner with Haru, everyone arrived to our apartment to invite us to go to see the winter lights in Roppongi.
-Whatever- said Haru with a poker face while I was just as excited as Nagisa was.
We put on our jackets and left our place. We were waiting for the train to arrive and I was looking for my gloves in my pockets.
-Shoot. I think I lost my gloves- I said putting my hands inside my jacket so they won't freeze that much.
-Maybe you left them at home- said Makoto.
-Here- said Haru taking one of my hands into his and shoving them into his jacket's pocket.
I blushed at the thought of having our fingers intertwined, but it seemed to work so I didn't care. Rin on the other hand, had a dark aura around him.

When we arrived to the Roppongi station, everything was white and blue because of the lights that were on. It looked like Disneyland in winter minus the creepy characters dancing around. There was a kind of Christmas Market organized by a German Institute and I felt like home. I loved the european christmas markets, but this one had also japanese food of course.

Nagisa's excitement was very contagious. Even Haru was smiling a bit alongside Makoto and Rei.
Sou and Rin were behind us like if they were our serious parents just coming along to take care of us.
-I want something sweet, Nagisa can you recommend me something?- I asked him.
-Yeah of course!- He took my hand and dragged me with him. I took out my hand from Haru's pocket and I felt the cold air embracing it.
-This one is good! Also this one and that one- he said pointing at pretty much everything.- You should buy one of each, I can't decide- he said cupping his cheeks with concern.
Why was everyone here so damn cute?
-You can try this one- said Sou suddenly by my side.
-Was is that?
-Warabimochi, it's a cake made from bracken starch and covered in sweet soybean flour. It's pretty good actually.
-Ok, I'll have one.
When it was already on my hands I took a big bite. I smiled while chewing it. The taste was way better than I expected.
-I'll take that you liked it?- asked Sou.
-Yeah, I'm in love- I said grabbing another bite.
He chuckled.
-It's Rin's favourite actually- he said grinning proudly.
I rolled my eyes. Why was everyone so obsessed with this topic?
-Hey you've got something here- said Rin walking towards me and cleaning the soybean flour from my lips.
I froze as his fingertips lingered more than enough on them. He then looked in my eyes and we were lost for a second there.
-Noah! You've got to try this one!- said Nagisa almost bumping into us.
He handed me a fish-like bread in a stick.
-Is that sweet?- I asked furrowing my eyebrows.
-Yes! It's one of my favourites, try it!
-Literally, every sweet is your favourite- I said taking a bite of it.
That broke the awkwardness and I just kept on eating pretty much the whole night. Geez Nagisa.

We kept on walking to get to the actual place where the lights came from. Suddenly, a kind of light show started. We ran where the people were gathering and stare at the building that was being illuminated to the rhythm of a pop song. A lot of symbolic animu's characters started to appear dancing or just flying around. It was hilarious but I tried not to laugh while I filmed everything.

When it finished, the building still had some colour lights on it and suddenly pop songs started to play but really loud this time. It was like a party with strangers.

And I felt like dancing.

It was freezing and I needed to move. Dancing was the perfect solution. A guy close to us who appeared to be by himself started to dance as if no one was watching. I started to move my head and my shoulders. Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' was heard in all the place. I had to dance. I had to sing. I'd already found my dance partner, so why not? While some of the guys were just moving their heads slightly, I broke the formation mumbling an "I'll come back in a bit" and went to the guy that had decided not to care about what they say.

He saw me approaching and started to sing in my direction, I smiled widely at him. Everyone looked at us funny, yeah it was weird to dance while shouting the lyrics on the street and I almost felt how everyone were filming or laughing at us but I didn't care. I just wanted to free my body. The guy I was dancing with looked foreign like me but neither of us talked, we were singing along and dancing as if we were the only ones in that place. I had danced to those songs for a long time, so the movements came easily with every beat. 'Can't feel my face' by The Weeknd and 'Shape of you' by Ed Sheeran, came on later as well. I was beyond happy. Minutes later I remembered I wasn't there alone, I looked around and saw everyone staring at us, blush covered my cheeks slightly.

I let the song die to say goodbye to the guy and other people that had joined us dancing, before going back to my favourite Japaneses.
-Sorry for making you wait- I said putting my hands in my pockets again. I kind of didn't want to look at them in the eyes.
-You have great moves Noah- said Makoto.
I blushed.
-Thank you. Dancing is one of my hobbies.
-Why don't you join the dance club then?- asked Rei.
-Cause I don't like to dance a specific genre or make a choreography. I just like to dance...uh...
-Freely- said Haru.
-Yeah. That's why I go to parties and clubs really often.
-This is more proof that you're the female version of Haru- said Nagisa.
I laughed.
-We're like lost twins Haru- I said putting my arm on his shoulder.
-Apparently- he agreed showing me a soft smile.
-You should teach Rin here to dance like that Noah- said Sousuke trying to stay serious until Rin smacked his arm and he bursted out laughing.
-Yeah, it will be cool to see you both dance, you can enter to dance competitions- said Nagisa excitedly.
-No, not happening- said Rin already flustered that he was being the center of attention.
-It's fine, we don't have to compete- I said smirking.
He looked at me with tinted cheeks and I could only think of how cute he looked.
