Chapter 17 - I Won't Give Up

Nina's POV

Do you know that weird feeling you get, when you're feeling really happy, but at the same time, you feel like something bad is going to happen soon? Yeah I was afraid this is going to happen. After making at least 10 phonecalls and talking to many people, they finally agreed that Ian and I would get to spend 2 hours at the children's hospital. 2 hours wasn't that much, but it still made me happy. "Hey Nina." Ian said and sat next to me. "Hey," I smiled, "They agreed we'd get 2 hours with them!" "That's great! You've always said you wanted to go." He smiled back.

"Aren't you going to dry your hair?" I asked. "Nope," he said popping the 'p', "I don't have the energy to do so." I laughed, "you've been sleeping all day and you still don't have enough energy?" Ops shit... He looked down. Did I say something I wasn't supposed to... But then again, he must've stayed up all night because of those nightmares. "Uh do you want me to dry it for you?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood. Without taking no for an answer I grabbed his arm and pulled him to the bathroom with me. He sat on the stool and smirked up at me while I blow dried his hair.

And all I thought about was, how much I missed touching his hair, running my fingers through his hair and mostly when I'd have my fingers tangled in his hair as we kissed.

I want to do all the things we did before, as a couple. An actual one, not just in front of people. I wanted us to be like we were before, wether we alone or not. But how can I trust that he won't hurt me again? And mainly how can I trust him, again?

I just hoped that one day, i'll be able to fully trust him, with everything and anything. And I want him to trust me too! Then again, does he still love me? Or does he still want to be with me? That was the trick question.

How does he do this to me? Make me love him a second, then hurt me the next?

Ugh, Ian.

"Nina!" He snapped his fingers in front of face. Ops he caught me drowning in my thought again. "I'm sorry what were you saying?" I asked. He pointed at his hair, "I think it's dry now..." Damn, how long have I been lost in thoughts? "Oh sorry." He chuckled at me, "some things never change. You're still always lost in your thought." I giggled, "you said it yourself, somethings never change."

At 2 we left the house and got in a taxi. We drove off to the nearest Toys R Us and literally bought over 50 toys, from stuffed animals and dolls, to remote controlled mini cars and puzzles. We finally got out and drove to The Royal Children's Hospital.

Honestly in this whole year so far, today has been the best. I loved how happy we made the kids, I loved how we put a smile on their faces and helped them laugh when they were crying. The nurses told us we had to leave soon, but we still had a few toys so we decided one more patient and we'd leave. I opened the door to the next room, and my heart sank my chest. Lucy, little Lucy was laying in bed looking very sick. Her face brightened when she saw me and went to jump from the bed, but the woman next to her, I assumed her mom, stopped her. "Nina Dobrev?" The woman gasped. "Hi." I grinned at her. "You're the Nina my baby has been talking about?" I nodded, and she gasped again, "wonderful to meet you! Im Elizabeth." I shook her hand, "we'll it's great to meet you, Elizabeth! Can I talk to you for a second?"

She mumbled a Hi to Ian and we walked outside the room, as soon as we did I asked the question that has been killing me for the past few minutes, "What's wrong with her?" Within seconds her eyes were filled with tears, "They're not sure, they think she has cancer we're going to stay here for a few days until the results are out!" I nodded my head slowly, "does he know?" I trailed. "Caleb? Oh no he doesn't. And please don't tell him either, I'll tell him when everything's sure." I nodded my head again, "if anything happens or if you need help with anything, tell me!" I smiled and gave her a piece of paper and a pen for her to write her number and she returned it with one of hers, "I will! Thank you!" I had to admit, Elizabeth is a gorgeous woman! After she finished writing down her number she returned the paper and I told her i'd text her later. When we got to the room, Ian was playing with Lucy, and I thought was the cutest thing!
