To his teachers, fellow students, other parents and strangers, Taehyung was the weirdest kid ever. He talked to inanimate objects, screamed randomly, and was overall a public disturbance at school. No one could understand a single word the five-year-old said; it was like he spoke his own language. For some reason, the kid had a firm belief that rabbits live on the moon; that the moon was their home planet and that they only came to Earth to see if they could overthrow it. Because of this, Taehyung didn't have any friends. He seemed unbothered by this fact; he always said that he didn't understand the other kids anyways.
People were so scared and weirded out by Taehyung that they didn't know that he was actually a really smart, kind, shy and good kid. He always brought home injured animals to take to the vet, homeless kittens to be fed, cleaned and given away to loving families, stray dogs for a meal and an overnight stay in the makeshift kennel he helped build with his father, and bunnies who can't find their parents. Taehyung loved animals, and because of it, he was the proud owner of four bunnies, five cats, two birds, a tortoise, a hamster and a rock. Yes, Taehyung wanted a pet rock named Stephen. All of his pets were rescued off the streets; one of the cats didn't have an eye, a rabbit was deaf, he hamster was retarded, the tortoise got confused easily, and the rock was just lonely. Taehyung was just too kind for his own good.
Hoseok loved his son with all his heart, even if he was a bit of a handful sometimes. He has been to way too many parent-teacher conferences in the past two years. Theyhave all said the same thing; "Why don't you take him to a school fit for people like him, or maybe a psychiatrist? We know some places." There is nothing Hoseok hates more than people telling him his son is crazy. But maybe today is the a line is finally crossed. Hoseok was sitting in front of the principal's desk, Taehyung looking down at his shoes in the seat next to him. They were discussing Taehyung's recent episode; his anger explosion.
Apparently, he was drawing a picture of him and Hoseok on the moon with a bunch of rabbits when a kid came up to him and said, "You're so crazy. How does your appa put up with you?" And Taehyung exploded. He was so angry that he knocked the small table over and started screaming at the kid to never talk about his father ever again. That's the thing with Taehyung; he's a sweet, shy, innocent kid until someone talks bad about his father. He holds in all of his hurt and anger towards everyone until his father is mentioned, then he lashes out. He's very destructive when he's angry.
"Mr Jung, we believe that Taehyung needs some proper guidance. If he keeps acting like this, he won't succeed in life," Principal Hong said, clasping his hands together on his desk. Hoseok's face flushed red in rage. "Are you telling me I'm a bad parent?" he asked way too calmly. Principal Hong nodded slowly. And that was it. The line was crossed. "HOW DARE YOU TELL ME HOW TO RAISE MY KID! YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HE'S CAPABLE OF! IT'S NOT YOUR PLACE TO TELL ME HOW TO RISE HIM! YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT HE'S LIKE OUTSIDE OF THIS AWFUL PLACE! YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW BIG HIS HEART IS AND HOW MUCH OF A GOOD KID HE IS! SO WHAT HE'S A LITTLE STRANGE TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU!? HE'S PERFECT TO ME!" Hoseok screamed, making his chair fall over with the force of his quick stance, startling both Principal Hong and Taehyung; especially Taehyung.
Taehyung has never seen his bright and sunny father this angry. Never has he heard him raise his voice. His father always made him smile through the bad days, even when Hoseok forced himself to tell Taehyung that his real parents gave him up because he couldn't take care of him. Hoseok was Taehyung's Hope; his Angel sent to him to look after him. Taehyung has told Hoseok that countless times. Seeing him this angry terrified the little boy, which resulted in him running out of the office and outside to a bench at the front of the school so he wouldn't have to hear his father scream at his principal. He curled up on the bench and cried until he couldn't breathe, but the tears would not stop flowing. They kept on coming; kept on choking the scared boy.
Hoseok felt so bad when he saw his little boy crying his heart out on the bench. It broke his heart whenever Taehyung cried, especially because of him. He took cautious steps towards Taehyung, who sounded like he was choking. "TaeTae..." Hoseok whispered gently as he sat down next to his son, who flinched when he felt his father's weight press down on the bench. Hoseok picked the boy up carefully, setting him in his lap. Taehyung wasted no time on hugging Hoseok's neck tightly, soft sobs muffled as he nuzzled the crook of Hoseok's neck. Hoseok hugged him tight, rubbing his back with a gentle hand. "I'm so sorry, TaeTae. I'm so sorry I scared you. Please don't hate me," Hoseok whispered, rocking his little boy slightly. "It's okay, Daddy. I can never hate you," Taehyung replied, kissing Hoseok's cheek. Hoseok smiled, pushing back Taehyung's light brown bangs to kiss his forehead. "Come on, let's go home."
After a quiet dinner and a nice bath, Hoseok helped Taehyung into his pajamas. "Daddy, can we watch movies?" Taehyung asked as Hoseok threw one of his shirts over Taehyung, who refused to sleep without one of Hoseok's shirts. "Yeah, since it's not a school night. My room or living room?" Hoseok replied, fixing the shirt that went down to his son's knees. "Your room!" Taehyung yelled, squealing with delight as Hoseok picked him up and tossed him over his shoulder. Hoseok walked them to his room and set his son down on the bed, who immediately started to pet the one eyed cat, who took residence at the bottom of the king-sized bed. Hoseok moved to the entertainment center on the opposite side of his bed and put on Beauty and the Beast, since it was one of Taehyung's favorites and he was still trying to make Taehyung happy again. "Daddy, come lay with me!" Taehyung squealed, moving to the head of the bed. Hoseok laughed and sat up in the middle of the bed with his back against the headboard. He patted his lap and held out his arms. "Come here, TaeTae," he cooed, smiling when his little boy crawled into his lap and eagerly watched the movie.
Halfway through the movie, while Hoseok traced mindless circles into Taehyung's arms, the little boy turned his head to look at his father. "Daddy?" Hoseok hummed and looked down at Taehyung, who had a pout on his face. "Am I weird?" Hoseok hugged Taehyung close and shook his head. "No, love. You're not weird; you're perfect," he said warmly, planting a kiss on his son's forehead. The little boy smiled and sank even further into Hoseok's chest, knowing Hoseok wasn't lying. "I love you, my Hope." Hoseok smiled and kissed the crown of his son's head. "I love you too, Taehyungie."
