TRIGGER WARNINGS just in case
1673:
They first meet in Japan. Their families were two of the biggest in the Korean Peninsula and were invited to a party thrown by the Emperor of Japan. They literally ran into each other; Taehyung tripped and landed on top of Hoseok, who laughed and shrugged off Taehyung's many apologies, insisting that it was okay.
They ended up escaping the prying eyes of the Japanese Royals and their own families on the balcony, looking up at the stars. Hoseok makes Taehyung's acquaintance on the balcony, and when the silence has Taehyung looking up at the sky, Hoseok stares at the boy because he's never seen someone so otherworldly before. In his eighteen years of living, this sixteen-year-old boy was the most beautiful piece of artwork life has ever crafted.
The more he stares, the more Hoseok finds himself thinking about the young boy like he shouldn't. The penalty for homosexuality was death for both boys, and Hoseok would never spend eternal rest peacefully knowing that it would be his fault that such a beautiful being was taken from this world after living such a short life.
Taehyung shifts his moonlit eyes to Hoseok, gasping at the sight. To him, Hoseok was as close to perfect as God will ever get. Embarrassment heats up his cheeks. Why did he have to be so clumsy and fall on this boy? The embarrassing tint turns from pink to red as Hoseok smiles at him and cooing.
"Are you blushing, Prince Taehyung?" Hoseok jests, laughing a laugh so beautiful that Taehyung's mind clouds. It's a belly laugh, full and loud and genuine. The Jung Royal Court can't take this away from him, even if they try.
"You make me blush, Prince Hoseok." The deep voice doesn't match the face, but that pit in Hoseok's stomach coils and chills run down his spine, making him shiver. Taehyung notices and stands closer so that their shoulders are touching.
"Cold?" Hoseok wants to say no. He wants to take the prince of the Kim Royal family right there on the balcony and make him his, but he refrains. If his true feelings were voiced, they'd end up dead. And it would be all of his fault.
So instead, he nods and Taehyung wraps an arm around him. And a whole new future starts for the two; right then and there.
They return home a week later, but don't see each other often over a two-year span. Usually, they'd share small smiles and tiny gestures across the table at state dinners, when the two families came together to discuss politics and for Taehyung's coming of age celebration.
The celebration was grand. The entire Korean Peninsula was in an uproar trying to get invitations, but only the Mins, Parks, other Kims and Jungs, as well as Jeons, were invited. Still, after the ceremonies and formalities, the festivities gave Taehyung and Hoseok time to hide.
Taehyung giggles wildly as he runs through the empty wing of the palace, one hand dragging Hoseok along. They end up outside of Taehyung's bedchambers, the younger boy pinning Hoseok to the door. The older prince's heart pounds, mind screaming at him to just lean in and take what he's wanted since he first met the boy. But he refrains.
Before he knows what's happening, Taehyung's soft lips are on his, fitting perfectly with his own. They're warm and taste like kimchi, which was the last thing the young prince ate. Hoseok's lips are burning from the spice still lingering on Taehyung's lips, as well as all the love that bled into the intense kiss.
All too-soon, Taehyung pulls away, leaving Hoseok breathless. He looks deep into the young prince's eyes, finding them glazed over with love, adoration, and something similar to lust. What they've done is more than illegal; it's fatal. It's a fatal sin and if they're caught, they'll surely go to Hell for doing what they did.
