________________________Sitting alone in her room, she was now trying not to burst into tears for the 10th time this week. She was trying to hold on, to be strong, to resist: but she couldn't. She didn't want to wake up in the morning to see him anymore. She didn't want to talk or think about him: it brought her too much pain.
When they met there were so in love, so happy. When they got married all she could think about what how happy she was going to be all her life, that nothing was ever going to change. But people do change. Sometimes they get better but sometimes it's the other way other. It started off with a bottle, then with lipstick on his collar, and the list goes on and on.
She always forgave him. Because love can make you forgive anything.Love: that's what Spencer Hastings was feeling for James, her husband for the past three years.
She remember the day they've met at this book store when she was 23, their dates and every couple stuff they did for three years. When he proposed, she felt like the luckiest person in the girl. Unfortunately, she was blinded by her love for him to see what he was going to become.
The first time he drank was one year after they got married. That night, he slapped her.
But she let it go.
A few months later, she walked on him and his secretary at his work.
But she let it go.
When he started hitting her, she didn't say anything. She let all these things go because she loved him. She was nothing without him. At least she felt like she was nothing. The way he treated her made her feel worthless and useless. She ended up thinking she was just here because of him, and that without him she be even more miserable than she already is: that's why she stayed with him.
At first, he was ending up crying and apologizing, but he let go of his formalities and she never heard him say the word "sorry" for the past year. No even once. For the past two years, she took everything without saying a word, but she started to understand, slap after slap, drink after drink and bruise after bruise that he was not good to her: her love for him turned into hate, a hate she could not show because she was to weak to. He was the reason she felt vulnerable and unhappy all the time.
All she wanted was to feel loved. To feel like she felt when she was young and happy.
But now all she was was alone, her friends were living their lives around the world, he family too: she had no one but James. On this June night, Spencer couldn't take it anymore. She needed to get away. She wanted him to suffer, to feel as worthless as she felt every time he was in the room. But she had no way to make him feel that way: he was just a heartless cunt.
All she could do was trying to make herself feel better.
That night, James was getting drunk at a pub so she took this time to pack and leave the house.
She started driving.
She didn't know where she was going, but everything was better than where she was.
She passed the "leaving Rosewood" sign and stopped somewhere quiet.
She started crying in her car.
She had no idea of was she was doing: she had no money, no place to go, she was tired and hurt.
She tried to call Aria Montgomery, her oldest friend but, she wasn't answering because of the time difference.
She scrolled down her contacts and stopped at a name she hasn't clicked for the past 6 years. A name she hasn't clicked on ever since he left, even since she met James.
She didn't care anymore. Everything in her life was already so screwed up. She knew the idea was stupid, but she needed this. She needed this so bad.
She started the car again and drove.
For some reason, she still remembered the address after all this time. She didn't even know if he was still living here anymore but it was her only shot.
She passed the "Welcome to Maine" sign and sighted.
She was scared and yet relieved to arrive here. She didn't know this place but she felt safer than in Rosewood.
She stopped in front of a neighborhood of house and stopped in front of the number 83.
In the house was living Toby Cavanaugh and Yvonne Phillips (probably Yvonne Cavanaugh by now). Happily married couple for the past sixth years.
Toby was her high-school boyfriend and her first serious relationship before James. They always were really close until Toby's departure just after she met James.
She felt so horrible, going up here and knocking on the door. But this was nothing compared to how she felt everyday, nothing.
It was four AM. What was she thinking? Everyone is asleep. They probably have kids by now.
After knocking multiple times she started feeling worse than she already felt. She slowly walked away, tears in her eyes until:
