I'm going to tell you a story, the story of why I ran away. I am a princess of a bountiful and beautiful kingdom, where everyone wears sandals, girls wear flowy dressed, and guys wear shorts. You might think, why did I ever want to leave? Well, it started getting cold.

"Princess, it's too cold the plants can't grow," A farmer boy told me.

"Try building greenhouses so it will be warmer for the plants," I replied.

"Miss, we don't have enough clothing to make warmer clothes. " A seamstress mentioned.

"Just add more fabric to the clothes you already have made," I answered.

"Princess, I don't have enough leather to make proper shoes for everyone." A shoemaker pointed out.

"Use the scrap fabric from the seamstress to put over the sandals, to make shoes. " I mentioned.

With a sigh, I headed to my room. "hey, my sweet." A voice came from behind me. It was Arnold, a plump red-headed boy around my age who my parents want me to marry.

"Hey... Arnold." I said turning towards him with a fake smile plastered on my face.

"You know the global freezing, shouldn't make a pretty girl like you sad."

"Bye Arnold," I said starting to walk back to my room.

"Look, all I'm saying is maybe the Ice Queen taking over the world might not be a bad thing."

"The Ice Queen is a legend, a story to tell little kids." I answered"Yeah but it's the only logical thing. There's mermaids, elves, fairies, dragons, pegasi, and monsters that lurk in the dark. So, there could be an Ice Queen."

"Goodbye, Arnold." I said through gritted teeth and walked off.

As I walked away it did sound logical, the story said that one day the Ice Queen will freeze the world unless someone came and kill her. Once I got to my room my best friend plus lady in waiting was finishing up the curtain that ripped.

"Hey Flora, how are you?" I asked her.

"Okay considering that today was just a long list of chores, what about you Lav?"

"Tiring, I had to listen and help people all day, then Arnold started talking about the Ice Queen, and ugh..." I said flopping on my bed.

"Well everyone is starting to believe it, their scared." She responded.

"I know, and it's just a legend that parents tell their kids."

"It's the only thing that explains why this is happening." She exclaimed, after a moment of silence she piped back up. "Ooh we could sneak out and see if she exists and if she did we could kill her and bring back summer."

"I would love that but my father would say: 'You have a duty, as the princess, to stay here and help the people, not run around chasing fairy tales' and he's right."

"Just think about it Lav I hope you make the right choice." She said standing up to come hug me. Once she did she walked back to her room in a serious matter.

As My parents and I were eating dinner, it was quiet until my Mother piped up and said: "It's getting really cold for it being summer.""Don't tell me you believe that stuff too Rose." My Father replied.

" I don't I'm just saying that it seems weird that all of a sudden it's cold."

"What do you think, Lavender?" My father said turning to me, in anger.

"Well, there's no proof that there is an ice queen. So if we send people out there to see we would have an honest answer. Plus if she is real we can get rid of her." I answered him the best way I could. He looked at me for a second with a blank expression, then his mouth curved up into a smile and he started laughing. Clearly understanding what I was telling him.

"Oh, my Rose she wants to go out into the woods and chase a fairy tale." He said in between laughs. His face turns serious as he looked at me. "You have a duty, as the princess, to stay here and help the people, not run around chasing fairy tales"

"That's what I thought you would say." I replied "I'm finished eating, I'm going to bed. Goodnight mother, Goodnight Father."

Instead of going to my room I went to Flora's room and knocked on her door.

"Get packing and meet me outside the palace walls." I said in a serious tone.

"I knew you would change your mind." She responded with a smile.
