Summer again

Chapter 16

I slowly backed away from the large gray wolf that was drawing closer to me, it's teeth were bared and I let out a frightened scream. Hoping that someone would help me. I tightened my grip on my scimitar, I was so scared that I had forgotten how to use it. Suddenly my back bumped up against a tree. I closed my eyes wondering what my next move would be. When I opened my eyes again the wolf was only a couple yards away. I inched my way around the tree and then I darted off. I heard the wolf howl before chasing after me, my heart was beating fast and I was almost out of breath. I decided to climb a tree to get away from the wolf until the morning. I found a tree with low enough limbs that would allow me to climb and I started up the tree. Before I could get to a safe enough height, the wolf sunk his teeth into my calf. I cry out in pain and I bit my lip trying to ignore the pain long enough for me to use my other foot to kick the wolf off. I continued to climb trying to ignore the pain, blood was dripping from my leg onto the snow below. Once I was sure I was safe I looked down at the wolf, it was circling the tree eyeing me carefully like it was waiting for me to fall to my doom.

After awhile I heard an arrow whiz through the air. I looked down and the wolf was hit in it's side. The wolf howled in pain and started charging towards the source. Another arrow flew through the air and hit the wolf in between the eyes, the wolf let out a small whimper before it fell to the ground dead. Someone emerged from a cluster of bushes holding a bow. I recognized the person instantly, his black hair, blue eye, and fair skin I knew who it was instantly.

"Lav? Lav where are you?" I heard him yell.

I wanted to call out to him but I couldn't find my voice. He came upon the tree I was in and noticed the blood that had dripped from my calf. i watched as he looked around as if to find my foot prints. My hurt leg was dangling from the limb and I watch as two more drops of blood fall in front of Aidan's face. I watched as he looked up slowly with a hint of fear.

"Lav?" He asked looking at me worriedly.

"Yeah?" I groaned.

His face went from worried to relieved to back to worried in a matter of seconds. I watched as he climbed the tree to help me down, when black dots filled my vision and the world around me faded away.

Aidan's pov:

Once I got to Lavender she had passed out. I held on to her tight as I slowly climbed back down the tree. When I got back to solid ground, I laid  her down against the tree. I then ripped a piece of my shirt and wrapped it around her wound. Once I was finished I picked her up bridal style and carried her back to camp.

When I reached camp, Sarel had started the fire and it was slowly melting the snow surrounding camp. Flora was the first to notice my arrival.

"Oh my... Is Lav okay?" She asked running up to me with a worried expression on her face.

"She's okay, she got attacked by an amarok and it bit her on her leg. Other than that she's fine." I reassured her. I laid Lavender down where she slept, so Sarel could properly treat the wound.

I sat closely next to where Sarel was bandaging up her wound. I watched as Sarel used the snow to clean the wound then rubbed calendula ointment on it.

"What's that for?" I asked him curiously.

"To speed up the healing process. I also have other ointments to help treat the wound, but she can't walk on her own for at least 4 days." Sarel answered as he continued putting ointments on Lavenders leg.

My eyes moved to Lavenders face, her tan skin was pale and her face was twisted in pain. Guilt started to wash over me and I buried my face in hands and mumbled things to myself. I stayed like that way past everyone falling asleep. I felt like I had failed her, I promised her she wouldn't get hurt and here she was. Hurt.

"Aidan?" I heard a weak voice ask.
