Summer again

Chapter 7

That night at camp I woke up to something in the woods. I felt their eyes on me and their want to hurt me. I quickly got up trying not to wake anyone grabbing my scimitar holding it out in front of me.

"What are you going to do with that darling." someone whispered in my ear, their icy cold breath hitting my neck and the smell of blood reaching my nose.

"Who... Who are you?" I asked trying to be brave but failing miserably.

"I'm going to be the end of you..." the voice said before a icy cold pale hand covered my mouth before I could let out a cry for help. I was dragged deep into the woods, I don't now how long it took or where I was when they dropped me down at the base of a tree. He tied my wrists together and kicked my scimitar out of reach. Then he got up and looked at me as if I was his next meal. I could see sharp fangs protruding from his mouth and I realized that I was his next meal.

"Come on out boys, dinners here" He called and before I knew it ten more vampires appeared right in front of me. I whimpered, too scared to scream my lungs out, I prayed for one of my friends to realize I was missing and come find me.

"Look how scared she is Vlad, it's kinda cute." One of the boys said.

"Shut it," another hissed at him. "now who is going to have the first bite?"

They turned around in a huddle, every so often I would here "Me" or  "But I did...". I heard a small rustle in the trees behind me. I turned my head to try and see what it was and my scimitar was their.

"Get untied while I distract them." A familiar voice whispered, it was Aidan. He then ran off to another area, where I could slightly see his face as he pulled out his bow and notched an arrow. I quickly tried to saw the rope binding my wrists before he shot an arrow. I managed to free myself as soon as Aidan released an arrow and shot one of them in the back of their head. All heads faced his direction, and I picked up my scimitar charging toward the crowd of nine vampires slashing them in the sides as they crumpled to the hard ground. The adrenaline quickly faded afterwards, I fell to my knees in shock realizing I killed people. Silent tears started falling down my cheeks as Aidan ran to see if I was alright. He took my hand and tried to lead me away but I couldn't moved I was paralyzed. 'Is this what it's like to kill someone. watching blood spill carefully to the ground?' I thought to myself. The stench of fresh blood wafted through the air and I felt like throwing up.

"Lav are you okay!?" Aidan said worriedly running  towards me sliding on his knees to embrace me in a hug.

"I...I kill...killed them?" I asked wanting to know if it was true. Silent tears started to fall from my eyes and I hid my face in his shirt.

"It's okay, your safe." was all he said to me before picking me up princess style and carried me back to camp. He layed me down on the ground putting a soft blanket over top of me. "Go to sleep everything is going to be okay" He whispered in my ear and went to go back to sleep.

I wish that I could have screamed that everything was not fine. That people want me dead and that I can't stop it. I was terrified and no one could calm me down. I couldn't go to bed so I stared at the stars, shaking from fear.

In the morning everyone was still asleep, so I decided to make breakfast for them( Or as best as I could with limited supplies). I put some bread over the fire that we set up last night, and toasted the bread to perfection. Then I sliced up some fruit and delicatly placed it on the toast in the shapes of flowers. The first person to wake up was Sarel, he looked at me as I handed him the toast. He looked at me surprised for a moment then took the toast.
"Thank you, Miss Lavender. What made you want to do this?" He asked eating the toast.
"No reason, just wanted to be a good friend." I answered him. A little bit later Flora woke up and gladly took a piece of toast. We hung out and I almost forgot about the events of last night. I looked over to see if Aidan was still sleeping but he wasn't there. Someone quickly put their hands on my shoulders and said boo. I jumped as the person laughed. I turned around and hit Aidan in his chest.
"Ow... what was that for?" He asked.
"You scared me, Aidan that's why." I answered him.
"Sorry," He said giving me an awkward hug before grabbing a piece of toast . My face went hot for a second as Flora gave me a shoulder shake.
Aidan's POV
I could tell Lavender was having hard time about last night. Her Emerald green eyes were dull and sad, the complete opposite of her normal self. She had a smile that said everything was alright but her eyes told a different story. I knew I couldn't protect her all the time like I promised but I want to, too keep the light in her beautiful eyes shining.
