Summer again

Chapter 15

As Aidan asked if I was okay, the feeling inside my chest spread throughout my body. Without thinking I got up from where I was sitting, I started walking towards the wall of snow. With every step the feeling inside me grew stronger and stronger, till I was surrounded in a gold light. I then placed my hands on the solid wall of snow, I closed my eyes and let that feeling that's stirring within me flow out of me. Soon a gush of wind hit my face, I opened my eyes and the sun shone in face. I turned around to face my friends and they were in awe.

"When did you learn to do that?" Aidan asked shocked.

"I don't know, it just happened" I answered shrugging my shoulders.

"Well... I think we should start going then." Aspen mentioned awkwardly after overcoming his shock.

Everyone nodded in agreement but didn't move a muscle. We stood there for a good while before anyone started packing up. 

When we were all done packing up, Aidan came up to me and gave me a hug.

"You're amazing." He whispered in my ear before kissing my cheek softly. I felt my face go red and I hid my face with my jacket. His icy blue eyes continued to look at me and it made me shiver.  I look back at his face and there was a black shimmer to it, I was about to say something when Flora spoke up.

"Come on lovebirds we need to get a move on."

We gave her a smile and we left the cave. We continued our climb up the mountain,  it didn't take long to the next ledge but since we started our climb around the middle of the day it was starting to get dark. So we decided to set up camp, I attempted to melt the snow and ice in the area but instead I ended up melting a small section big enough for us to sleep on an have a fire. We couldn't walk around anywhere to collect fire wood easily, so Flora and I decided to trudge through the snow and cut some limbs of trees.

I walk through the small forest, ankle deep in snow with Flora beside me. We were both holding our weapons in case of an attack and for collecting wood, as we trudged on I noticed some animal foot prints in the snow. They were bigger than any animal I've heard of but were in the shape of a paw. I decided not to say anything for most likely the animal was long gone. I tightened my grip on my scimitar before stopping.

"I think this is far enough." I told Flora before starting to cut some tree limbs off. We worked in silence until we had enough wood to start a fire. Once Flora had an arm full of wood in her arm she headed back, I continued chopping off limbs when I heard a low growl.

Aidan's pov:

When the two girls left it was just Aspen, Sarel, and I left to guard the camp. I protested them going alone to collect wood because they could get attacked. Apparently I was the only one who thought that because they left us to sit here awkwardly until they came back.

After a long time of silence I cleared my throat and spoke up.

"Are you guys worried about them at all?" I asked with a hint of frustration.

Aspen and Sarel looked  at each other before shaking their heads in disagreement.

"What do you mean? They could get killed!" I questioned them again raising my voice just a bit.

"They can handle themselves. You taught them how to fight, why are you so worried?" Aspen asked giving me a weird look.

"I don't know it's just that I feel like somethings going to happen to them." I answered shaking my head.

"Don't worry Aidan nothing's going to happen to them." Sarel reassured me with a smile.

I gave a weak smile back and we continued to sit in silence.

It was when Flora returned by herself when I really got worried.

"Where's Lav? Shouldn't she be with you?" I asked her as I got up to help her with the wood.

"She's still in the woods collecting some more fire wood." She responded as she sat down on a blanket. "Don't worry she's..."

Before she could a loud scream came from the direction Lavender was.

"Fine?" Flora said weakly.

I grabbed my bow and quiver before darting into the dark woods.
