Summer again

Chapter 10

"How do we know your not leading us into a trap?" Aidan asked Aspen. As he was being interrogated Aspen messed with his white jacket with his head down, answering every question quietly.

"Because I'm not like her." Aspen whispered.

"I believe you." I spoke up. "Besides it would help having someone who knows where their going."

Flora and Sarel nodded in agreement, but Aidan got even more frustrated and it seemed like Aspen was too. I figured if Aidan asked anymore questions Aspen would explode.

"Aidan... He doesn't seem like a threat, plus he knows where the Ice Queen is. If he does end up being a threat I will take the blame." I told Aidan in a calm and soothing voice. He squeezed my my hand that he was still holding and nodded in defeat. "Welcome to the team Aspen."

After we all left the hotel, Aidan was hovering around me and glaring at Aspen who was next to me. I let out a sigh and mentally face-palmed. Every so often Aidan would pick a fight with him and I would have to break it up as Flora and Sarel died laughing. Before we knew it we were at the base a snow covered mountain.

"It's straight up, how are we going to get up there?" I asked.

"Isn't it obvious we have to climb." Aspen answered.

"We don't have any climbing gear though." I responded watching as Aspen did some motions with his hands. I watched as a rope appeared in his hand. "How'd you do that?"

"As I told you I'm the Ice Queen's brother. I have the same powers as her." He answered me with a smile as he threw the rope to a ledge above us. He held the rope and a white light appeared and shot up the rope. "That'll hold it still."

"Lav, get on my back so I can climb us up the mountain." Aidan told me, I did as he said and he started to climb the rope I looked down and saw Aspen close on our tail and Flora on Sarel's back as he climbed up the rope made of ice.

"He's fast but I'm faster" Aidan muttered as he picked up his pace. I felt my hands slipping and my heart felt like it was going to explode with fear.

"Aidan, please slow down I'm slipping." I told him with fear in my voice.

"I can't, I have to be faster than him." Aidan muttered my heart was pounding even faster as I felt my hands loose grip. Before I knew it, my hands slipped and I was falling to the ground. I closed my eyes bracing for impact, but it didn't come. Someone had a firm grasp around my waist, I opened my eyes and I was met with icy blue eyes completely different than Aidan's. It was Aspen. He grinned at me and I felt my face go hot. I noticed he had light freckles that were splattered crossed his nose and handsome smile.

"You alright Lavender?" Aspen asked me.

"Y-Yeah. Just a little shook." I answered, I looked up to see where Aidan was and he was already close to the top. He must have not noticed I fell off or he would have stopped and I became really upset.

"Well that's good." Aspen responded.

Aspen continued to climb holding me tightly as my arms were wrapped around his neck. My face grew redder and redder every time he would glance over at me with his icy blue eyes. Before I knew it we were at the top off the cliff.

"Lavender, I'm so sorry I shoulda..." Was all Aidan got out before I slapped him across the face.

"I could have died!" I yelled. "All because you were jealous!"

"Sorry..." Aidan muttered rubbing his cheek in pure shock.

"You should be!" I yelled and a large rumble came from the top of the mountain. I looked up and snow was  coming down towards us. Aspen formed a dome of ice around us just as the snow was about to hit us. Inside the dome it was dark from the snow piled on top of it and it was freezing, even with the jacket. 

"Everyone okay?" I asked looking around at the outlines of all the faces.

"Yeah I think so." I heard Flora's voice say. 

"Now how are we gonna get outa here?" Aidan asked Aspen snarkily.

"I don't know." Aspen whispered.

The air grew this as  Aidan hammering down on Aspen, along with Sarel  and Flora trying not to laugh. The ground started to sway and my whole view faded out and I felt myself fall.
