Era raised her katana then brought it down in a powerful swing, but it bounced off the glass wall that circled Alex's house.

She took a few steps back and ran at the wall, she put all her energy into her swing, but the blade bounced off once again.

She fumbled back; she stood hunched over, her breaths quick and ragged. Even her katana felt heavy in her hands.

She heard footsteps move the sand, she looked behind her to see Thane.

He had taken off his hoodie so that the black shirt he had worn underneath showed. A large, dark bruise on the left side of his jaw stood out against his pale skin; while his upper left arm was slightly bandaged, as to cover the cuts and gashes left by Kali.

She turned toward him, "Why did she go with them? Why did she, Thane?"

He shrugged, "I'm not all knowing, but I imagine she thought she was doing is a favor."

"How? How on earth is this a favor?!"

Thane sighed, "In her eyes she saved us...and left so we wouldn't be burdened by her anymore."

"She's not a burden though..." Era whispered, "Why would she believe she was a burden?"

She saw Thane look away, "Era, we're three powerful Demi-Reapers...and a Demigod. What do you think she thought she was when compared to us? That she was weak, maybe, and defenseless...it's very possible."

Era stuck her katana in the sand, "But she's not..." she looked at the glass wall; she placed her hand on the cool, flawless wall. "She's not defenseless...not weak..."

"I never said she was." Thane said quietly.

Era looked back at him, "Why did you come out here? You're rarely the one to give pep talks."

"I thought I'd give it a try." he said with a shrug.

"Uh huh, so..."

"So." he repeated, "Mo's stabilizing; I'm surprised, given the hell he's been through the last few days, but I'm glad he'll be alright."

"And Alex?" she asked looking back at the wall and further down where the bullet from Luc's revolver was encased in glass.

"Still a little confused that a Demi-Reaper took a shot at him, but other than that, he's fine. He's just keeping an eye on Mo and icing a bruise."

She turned back toward him, "Speaking of, I know you love your battle scars, but that bruise won't help you right now."

He smiled half-heartedly, "I know."

"I think it's a good look, they show who's a warrior and who's not." a voice said.

Era and Thane spun around. A black haired girl stood behind the glass wall dress in cowboy boots, faded jeans, and a black V-neck shirt while a silver teardrop on a chain hung from around her neck.

"Who are you?!" Era demanded grabbing her katana out of the sand. She pointed the tip of her blade at the girl behind the glass wall.

"Calm down, Demi-Reaper Ernestine Shade. I'm here to help." the girl said calmly.

"How?" Thane asked crossing his arms.

Era knew the fact that the wall stood between them was the only reason he had not taken out his Scythe Stone.

"Well..." the girl began but was cut off by a second voice.

"Aletta! Aletta, I told you to wait until I hid the truck." a tall man with dark hair and ocean blue eyes stepped out from the thick woods. He wore a grey crew T-shirt, faded jeans, hiking boots, and a black utility belt. His attention was focused on Alex's broken tree cage, but as he looked toward the two Demi-Reapers Era came into a state of disbelief.
