Darcie sat in the center of a large, barred, steel cage of which the only opening was a barred door guarded by a Demi-Reaper, currently Kali. The cage itself sat in large room that Darcie would have guessed at one point was part of a working factory, storage house, or warehouse of some kind. However, she didn’t know what to think of the cages that littered the rest of the building, and what their original purpose would have been for.
Kali paced in front of the door keeping watch for any suspicion movement Darcie dare make, but she knew better than to get up and test her boundaries. Besides, small, white symbols decorated the bars of the cage. Although Darcie believed the symbols would have no power over her she didn't dare try to touch one of the marked bars.
"You're quiet." Kali murmured after a half an hour of silence, as if she except any type of noise from within the cage.
"What do you want me to say? Hello?" Darcie snapped; she had found in the few hours she had been with the Canadian, Alaskan Demi-Reapers a confidence had form inside if her, a confidence that allowed her to speak her mind. She imagined it was the effect of facing her own death straight on, and not dragging anyone down with her.
"Hello? Creative, but no." she paused, "Maybe tell me about Thane and Mo? How are those two doing?"
Darcie bit her lower lip, frustration went through her, "Your death brother pretty much left Mo for dead, and you tried to carve up Thane."
Kali's eyes narrowed, "Trix is not my brother in anyway, shape, or form." she straightened and cleared her throat, "And Thane and Mo are big boys, I'm sure they would have been fine."
"Then why'd you ask about them?" Darcie asked.
Kali mouth curved in a devious smile, "To see if we still have leverage on you. It's obvious when you talk about them that you care."
"Me giving myself to you to save their lives wasn't enough?"
"It could all been a plan to track us, but then again, the way Thane and Era listened to you only means they care about you too. Especially Thane, he'd never act like a little soldier to anyone...except maybe his daddy." she smiled then stopped in front of the cage door. "So, Darcie Dawn, what makes you so special?" Kali questioned.
"Nothing, other than the obvious." Trix said coming into the room, "I'm here to take over, Kali."
She scowled, "Of course..."
Trix glared at her, "Any comments you have feel free to tell my mother, I'm sure she'd be happy to listen to you complain about her favorite son."
Kali bit down hard and left the room slamming the door on her way out.
Trix gave a short laugh, "Oh Darcie, the things you and Kali talk about." he smiled, "And yet it's so sad."
Darcie stood, "You touch me and I'll break your nose."
"You couldn't, even if you tried, and you know that." he said mildly.
"I would try though." Darcie muttered.
"Respectable." he looked at her, "I can see why those two run in circles around you, like little puppies. It's adorable."
"What are you talking about?" Darcie took a step away from him and towards the back of the cage.
Trix wrapped a hand around one of the cage bars, "Lil' Darcie Dawn, what makes you special?"
Darcie felt her hands curl into fists, "Answer me Trix! What are you talking about?!"
Trix just laughed, "Oh, you are hopeless, Darcie. Beyond hopeless perhaps. You can't even see that three complete strangers are willing to die protecting you. And why do you think that is? Because they care? No. Think about it, Darcie Dawn."
