Era remembered David screaming out, then falling through the air. Weightless. For a moment her death seemed closer than ever before, closer than any risen spirit had ever seemed to bring. But then she landed, hard on her back, but safe. Her mother, Valcon, and Damien over them while a dome of thick glass shielded them from the dust and debris that would have otherwise harmed them.
She looked to her left to see Alex over her, his brow furrowed as if her current appearance brought thoughts of her going into the sweet oblivion of death. She took one of his hands in hers, “No need to stress, I’m fine.” She said softly.
Alex smiled again, helping her to her feet. “I’m just…worried...about you...that’s all…”
She smiled softly at him before turning, she found Thane standing besides Mo, their bruised and bleeding faces indicating the damages dealt by their battles and the more recent fall. She leaned on Alex as she stood, her gaze went passed her death brothers towards their Reaper parents. The three, including Damien who had fallen off the factory upon Carol’s attack, looked up at the glass dome protecting them.
She pushed away from Alex toward Elvira. “Mother, what is this? Do you know?” she knew the answer herself but pondered how much her mother knew of the situation.
Her mother gave her a partially puzzled look but then turned up toward the dome, “I am afraid this is both a savior, of types, and a trap for us.” Elvira touched the clear, ice like glass. “Yes. Created to save our lives and trap us her until the Lady Damaris defeats the fallen Angel or dies in the attempt.”
Era stepped back, Thane and Mo turned toward Elvira.
“What do you mean, dies in the attempt?” Thane seemed to snap.
Valcon’s eyes narrowed. “Thanatos!” he snapped, “Even in such situations, such tones will not…”
“Such tones? I don’t care!” Thane scowled, “Darcie is out there, as Damaris, whatever, I don’t care, but it’s her life. We can’t let her just die!”
Valcon stepped forward angrily, Elvira held out an arm, stopping him. “Enough, we are all here, we cannot escape. The Dark Angel’s power overruns our own capabilities. I am truly sorry.”
“So, we’re stuck in this glass cage like…bugs?” Mo questioned.
Damien sighed, “I’m afraid so, my son.”
Era looked back at Thane, Mo, and Alex. “So…we wait and…pray?”
Thane crossed his arms, “I don’t like it, Era.”
Era walked away from her mother and towards Thane. “I know, I don’t either…that may be Damaris out there but…”
“But it’s also Darcie.” Thane finished, “We can’t let her…”
“You have little faith in your friend.” Elvira commented.
Era and Thane turned toward her, “What?” Era asked.
“Darcie Dawn is the reincarnation of the Lady Damaris. You see that now, yes?”
Thane looked slightly confused at the Reaper’s point. “Yeah, but…”
“But nothing, Thanatos.” Elvira began, “She is the reincarnation of the Divine Sword’s keeper, therefore, she is the keeper. Such as before the fall of the Dark Heavens, she is part of the Divine Sword, she holds the very basic elements of the blade’s power.” Her eyes scanned the glass dome. “The raw powers she contains has been witnessed by you even before this moment, and now that she can control them, she holds greater power than even myself.”
