Darcie stared up at the ceiling; she traced around the edges around the room. She was tired but refused to sleep, she didn’t want to see anymore unexplainable dreams or visions.
She sat up and sat on the edge of the bed, she sighed and ran a hand through her chestnut hair only to find it was extremely knotted. She pulled her hand free and sighed once again. She felt trapped in the room, like a rat waiting to be tested on. She hated waiting, it was all she seemed to do recently. Waiting for Era, Thane, and Mo. Waiting for one of them to rescue her. Waiting for one of them to get hurt. Waiting for the next vision to leave her with more unanswered questions. Just waiting, and she absolutely hated it.
A light knock on the door caused Darcie to turn her head. She lifted her shoulder and head in hopes of it being Era, in hopes that she no longer had to stay in Alex’s guest bedroom like a prisoner to a prison. Instead it was Thane dressed in a new dark grey hoodie, dark faded jeans, and his same boots.
“Can I come in?” he asked.
Darcie sighed and stood, “Yeah, sure.” she muttered.
Thane closed the door behind him; Darcie guessed it was to prevent her from seeing the limp, almost lifeless, Mortimer Grave. “First, I’m sorry.”
Darcie blinked, “What?”
“You heard me, Darcie.” Thane said firmly.
Darcie rolled her eyes and looked away, “You’re probably Luc or Trix, shape shifting or something...or even Kali, as weird as that would be.”
Thane smirked, “At least you know their names.” he walked forward then sat on the edge of the bed. “I came here to talk to you about your visions...your dreams”
Darcie looked toward him, “Do you know something about them, Thane?”
“Maybe, if you’re willing to tell me what you’ve seen.” he said shortly.
Darcie sat on the floor, Thane looked at her for a moment then back to the door. “Where should I begin?” she asked him.
Thane shrugged, “Wherever.”
Darcie nodded, “Alright, I’ll start at the beginning then. Even if I have to repeat the parts you’ve heard.”
“I’ve barely heard anything, Darcie.” he murmured.
Darcie looked down at her hands in her lap, “The first one was at the Observatory when Dark Angels were first mentioned to me, that’s when I first saw the Vlade Bellum, but it was just a flicker of images. The second time was at the Observatory...or maybe cemetery after I looked into the eyes of the Hellhound, I saw the Dark Angels with Hellhounds and Reapers riding skeleton horses”
She saw Thane nod slightly, “I’ve been told that creatures were popular at the beginning of the war but as it ended they were no longer necessary”
“Yeah, anyway, the third time was at my foster parents’ house. I was a Dark Angel, I fought your parents and there was another Dark Angel named Aletta then a Reaper named Lavernia.” she paused, “They called me something...they called me the Lady of Darkness.”
Thane turned his head toward her, “Are you sure?”
Darcie nodded, “They kept saying they wanted the Divinus Ensis.”
“Divine Sword.” Thane translated.
“Yes, that’s when the dream ended. The fourth time was at the hotel, I saw Era’s mother in a cage and there was a Reaper named Chiara...they could sense me though, like they knew I was watching...they talked about how I was a threat, how I was mortal but if I was allowed to live I could become dangerous. I woke up after that then saw you at the pool.”
