I'm extremely sorry for not putting up any new chapters recently. I've been busy with school and home life. Then when I found time to write, my mind kept hesitating like it was waiting for something.

I had the ideas just not the inspiration, but I'm back now and ready to keep writing.

Anyway, the pic above is a bedroom window. It's the best one I could find where it was night.

Chapter 4: Extraordinary to Ordinary

"Owen said that?" Jerica questions for confirmation as she shifts in her seat in the kitchen. She only wanted to grab some dinner, but instead got this ridiculous story from Lucas.

"Yes. Weren't you listening?" He retorts, annoyed at Owen for being so inhospitable.

"Wow." She exclaims, crossing her arms and studying her brother. "He really got to you, didn't he?" Lucas only answers by glowering at Jerica.

"Owen must not like you." She says as she comes to that conclusion. "Mason, did you hear any of that embarrassing scene that Lucas was stuck in?" She asks with a smirk in his direction.

"Nope. I was making my sandwich." Mason says right after taking a bite of the aforementioned sandwich, talking with his mouth full.

Jerica rolls her eyes at him while Lucas ignores him completely. If you live with a guy like Mason all of your life, you learn to block out the mildly annoying times. When the level of annoyance passes the mild zone, that's when you have a problem.

"You have super hearing." She points out, making Mason pause his eating mid-bite.

"Who has super hearing?" Their mom asks as she walks into the kitchen, startling them all into silence.

Mrs. Hallow gives her children a weird look as she takes another step into the room, waiting for an answer.

"Um... Mason has been saying his hearing is great lately, so we've been teasing him about it." Jerica replies hesitantly.

Mrs. Hallow smiles in response, shaking her head at them. "I see you kids haven't changed at all."

Lucas swallows nervously, forcing his lips upward in a strained smile. Mason chokes on the bite of sandwich that he just acquired and Jerica compresses her lips to keep from laughing.

"Awe, honey!" Mrs. Hallow exclaims when Mason continues to cough. Lucas turns to his twin and slaps him on the back, allowing him to start breathing normally again.

"What was that for?" Mason demands to know with a scowl towards Lucas, confused at why he hit him.

Lucas only shakes his head and heads off to his bedroom. Mason looks to Jerica but she only grins and leaves the room too. His eyebrows furrow as he stares at his half-eaten sandwich.

Owen sits against the wall on the floor of the guest bedroom he was assigned, just listening to his surroundings. The house is quiet except for the occasional faint voices.

He wishes he was back home with his friends, sitting around the fire on their annual weekend camping trips.

That's the main reason his parents made him come to stay with his cousins while they went on vacation. They said he spent too much time in the woods with people who are "bad influences."
