Chapter 14: Seeing Through Her Red Eyes
As soon as everyone files inside the house and gets settled in the living room, the people with super senses hear a car pull up to the house. Mr. Woltz is the only one who remains outside, stating that he needs to be alone for a few minutes.
Adrian has already super sped to the window when Lucas looks up, so he doesn't bother getting up to see who it is.
Then the young werewolf hears his brother's bedroom door open and close, followed by his footsteps as he joins them in the living room. "Hey, when did you guys get back?" Mason asks with an innocent smile, referring to Adrian and Mr. Woltz.
"Mason, where have you been?" Jerica demands to know, wondering how in the world he didn't hear the fighting that went on outside just a few minutes ago. The whole neighborhood probably heard the commotion, so how did he miss it with his werewolf hearing?
"I was playing video games. Why? Did I miss something?" Mason inquires with a tilt of his head. He frowns when he notices everyone's grim faces.
"Someone explain it to him later." Adrian orders as he moves toward the front door for our visitor. "Selynn and Vanessa are here, and it looks urgent."
Adrian opens the door before they can knock, and by how fast they got to the door, it seems they were running in a hurry.
"Adrian! You're in danger." Selynn exclaims before noticing his extremely disheveled state. "I guess you already knew that."
"What is this about?" He asks, his gaze drifting to Vanessa because she's calmer than her twin.
But she just shrugs as Selynn tries to catch her breath. "Sit down for a second, Selynn. I'll explain while you recover."
She nods to her sister and Lena scoots over to give her room to sit on the couch.
"All I know is that Selynn had a vision, and it hit her harder than usual. I realized what was happening and asked her to describe it when she returned to normal, but her eyes remained completely red for at least five minutes after the vision and she was breathing much faster than normal." She begins to explain.
It had been a while since Selynn had one of her zombie visions. Fortunately, Adrian can help out because of how much he knows about zombies. Truthfully, he's not an expert on zombie visions, but he knows enough to help Selynn through it if she needs it.
"That's normal if the vision was more intense or longer than usual. What was it? What did she see?" Adrian questions impatiently as he sneaks curious glances at the zombie girl, who's sitting slouched with her eyes closed.
"She didn't tell me. She just said that we had to get here to tell you immediately, because you're in danger. I had to be silent in the car while I drove so that she could process everything and make sure she remembered it for you." Vanessa tells them, concerned about her sister and what all of this could do to her health.
One of these visions might be too much for her, and it could make her go crazy like their Uncle Lane. Selynn has to start taking it easy, or she'll do more damage than good.
