A/N:
Released on May 3, 2018I'm so sorry that I had to change my schedule and put up this chapter a day later than usual. I've been extremely busy because it's the end of my senior year and I don't have a lot of time for writing.
I'm going to try to get chapters up in time, but I'm going to be busy almost every day of this month with hardly any free time at all.
Anyways, here's the chapter. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 19: In Due Time
It'll happen eventually and inevitably, so Lucas decides to tell his parents that he's in a relationship.
He did tell Lena that he'd invite her over later, and it's best not to lie to his parents any more. With all of the supernatural aspects of their life that the teenagers have to hide, they don't need to add to the secrets.
He stops just outside of the doorway, having made his decision, and retraces his steps to the living room where he had left his parents.
"Actually, there's something else I wanted to talk to you guys about." He tells them reluctantly, causing them to stand hastily from the couch.
"What is it, Lucas?" Mr. Hallow asks, seemingly taking interest in the new conversation.
Lucas shifts his weight from one foot to the other, attempting to word what he has to say the correct way. He feels like a child, having to ask his parents for someone to come over. And he'd never had a girl over when his parents were home.
He was only interested in one girl, and the revelation that she liked him back only occurred a few months ago, when his parents were gone. So he has no clue how his parents will react, even though he's almost seventeen.
"I wanted to invite someone over. My girlfriend." Lucas blurts out to get it over with, studying his parents as they take in what he said.
They don't bother asking why they hadn't heard about this before. They knew why, and were ashamed of the fact that they'd been absent from their children's lives for so long.
"What's her name?" Mr. Hallow questions after an awkward pause.
Lucas stuffs his hands in his pockets to stop from fidgeting. "Lena."
Mrs. Hallow frowns, glancing at her husband in confusion before turning back to their son. "Lena as in, Lena Sterling? Isn't that Jerica's best friend?"
"Yep, that's her." He replies with a nervous smile, while everything that could possibly go wrong runs through his head.
"Well... invite her over for dinner tonight. We can get to know her better." Mrs. Hallow suggests, to which her husband nods in agreement.
"You don't have to do that." Lucas insists quickly, remembering the horrible dinner with Lena's parents.
It resulted in him being accused of being a vampire and getting kidnapped by vampire hunters. He was tortured by them and eventually rescued by his brother and their friends.
"Of course we do! As the parents, we need to formally meet your girlfriend." Mrs. Hallow argues nicely.
"Besides, you wanted her to come over anyway. Why not have her over for dinner? You two can hang out afterward." She responds insistently.
"Alright. I'll tell her to come over at six o'clock. Is that enough time to make dinner?" Lucas says reluctantly, feeling uneasy about the whole ordeal.
