Sorry for my sporadic updates. I'm not sure when I'll be making a schedule for writing and updating on Wattpad. I just don't have the same time that I used to. It is senior year, after all.
The fifth chapter is almost done in my other story Saving Them.
Word Count: 2075

Chapter 5: To Be There For Them
Lucas is surprised when he wakes up the next day to find that Owen has already left for school. He had just finished getting ready and had gone into the living room to wait for Mason.
He didn't know if he'd be taking Owen to school too, since he always drives his and Mason's car, but the question was answered when their mom said Owen left early.
"Where's Jerica?" Mason asks as Lucas grabs his backpack from the floor so they can leave.
"She got a ride from Lena. I told you that we don't have to take her to school anymore." Lucas explains in exasperation. He doesn't like having to repeat himself.
"Oh, yeah..." Mason says as they exit the house and head for the car.
Lucas turns on the radio as they drive to school. They remain quiet, just listening to the music and trying to fully wake up.
Lucas feels eyes on him when they're almost to the school. He reaches for the volume to turn it down and glances at Mason, seeing that his brother is the reason for his unease this time. "What's wrong?" Mason asks as Lucas returns his full attention to the road ahead.
He ignores the question that his twin posed and continues to stare at him suspiciously. "There's something wrong. You always hum to the music while you're driving. What's wrong with you?" Mason asks again, unwilling to let it go just yet.
"Did you have a nightmare last night?" He teases, his voice light and joking, coming closer to the truth than Lucas would've liked.
"I didn't really sleep." He replies, not wanting to talk about it. He doesn't want to remember the fact that he can't get the hunters out of his head, or that it's messing with his werewolf side and causing him to always be on the verge of shifting.
Even at this moment, Lucas is tightening his hands on the steering wheel and willing the shifting in his stomach to go away.
It would be bad if he couldn't control his eyes and claws, but this is much worse. Ever since the first time Lucas changed into a wolf when it wasn't a full moon, he hasn't been able to control it very well. Every fiber of his being seems to be stirring inside of him, asking permission to change form. And he can't say yes. He constantly feels like an animal trapped in a cage.
"It has to be more than that." Mason argues, digging deeper than the surface for once. Why didn't he bother to do that when he met Adrian? Instead, Mason didn't think to question anything the lying vampire said if it sounded good.
"Why?" He retorts snappily, tired of this conversation and ready for it to be over. "I said I didn't sleep for long. Why do you think there's more?"
"Maybe because of that attitude." Mason responds honestly. "And also because even when you're tired, you still hum." Lucas hears his twin's heartbeat underneath his words. It pounds in his ears and makes him feel claustrophobic in the tiny confines of their car.
