ALLY’S P.O.V.
We had the whole day to prepare for the tour, seeing as the boys didn’t have a show tonight, we were just driving through the night to get all the way up to Edinburgh and be there all day tomorrow before their first show of the tour.
Even though we had hours, Dan was frantically running around the flat sorting things out, packing his suitcase and it seemed like he spent all day on the phone. At about 4 I decided that I would go back to my own flat to get some more things, and then hopefully I will be able to talk to Kaley when she got home from work.
Dan was reluctant to let me go without him, which worried me slightly. What if he did have something to hide? I managed to slip away whilst he was on the phone yet again. I got to the main doors of my block of flats and then realised I still had no key seeing as the last time I had been at the flat I had been there for 5 minutes and wanted to get out straight away so I had totally forgot my keys. I shouted in anger and frustration, banging my hands against the glass door.
I sat down on the concrete pavement and decided to wait until Kaley got home. We weren’t leaving until 8 so I had plenty of time. My phone started ringing and without even looking I knew it would be Dan. I told him that I would be home soon and that I just needed some things from the flat. He didn’t seem too happy but he accepted the fact that this was something I needed to do.
Sitting on the pavement, I gained a lot of dirty looks from people, obviously assuming I was some kind of tramp. It was when someone through a penny at me that I realised it was time I moved. I still had at least an hour until Kaley would be back so I walked along the street and found myself in the coffee shop.
I looked at the counter and was happy to see Seth there taking peoples orders. He looked different today. He didn’t have a beanie on but instead a weird bandana thing that oddly suited him. He also had glasses on today, they were just like Dan’s.
As I got to the front of the queue Seth looked up and did a double take when he saw me, smiling widely. “Ally, I was wondering when you would be back! Latte? Muffin?”
“Yes please! How are you?” I replied, realising I had a big grin on my face too. It was so nice to feel welcomed like Seth had made me feel.
“I’m good thanks. Charlie and Jake, you’re alright just you two for a bit, aren’t you?” Seth asked the others behind the counter who nodded and carried on serving customers. “I’m due a break so do you mind if I join?” Seth asked.
“No, go ahead!”
“Cool, I will bring the drinks over, go and find a seat!”
I sat there and chatted to Seth for over half an hour. He asked about Dan and I told him that we had made up, I didn’t need to bore him with the details. We talked about anything and everything, music, films, friends, family, uni. It weirdly reminded me of the first time I properly spoke to Dan. We had sat in this coffee shop getting to know each other only a month ago, and look at us now. I felt comfortable with Seth but I definitely didn’t open up to him as much as I had opened up to Dan all those weeks ago.
When Seth had to go back to work I decided to leave. He reminded me about bringing a CV round so I agreed that I would be back in an hour or so to drop it off and then I said my goodbyes.
I got to the flat and rung on the buzzer, even though it was only half 5 and I expected Kaley not to be in. To my surprise, I heard the sound of the door opening and made my way up in the lift. I got to my door and took a deep breath in. Now or never Ally.
“Ally?” Kaley looked shocked to see me.
“Hi.” I was being blunt and rude but she deserved it. She opened the door further to let me enter and we both walked into the living room. “I didn’t expect you to be home.”
“Yeah I um… I took the day off sick.”
“Oh, hope it’s nothing serious.” The tension in the room was unbearable. “I need to ask you some questions.” I paused. “About Dan.”
“Right.” She looked at me confused.
“So what’s actually happened with him?”
“We kissed at the weekend, I know you know that. And then I can’t stop thinking about him. I really do think he likes me too, but you’re in the way so he can’t see it yet.”
Delusional. She was completely delusional. “Okay. So what has he done to make you think that?” I continued in a calm tone.
“I don’t know, just I know he wants me.”
“Kaley, you know that me and Dan are together. We’re happy. You were seeing Kyle, what happened with that?” I tried to reason with her.
“I only slept with Kyle a few times, we were never seeing each other. And he was there to make Dan jealous, which is what happened. Dan got jealous of me and Kyle and then kissed me.” She seemed sure of herself, she seemed to believe this story made up in her head.
“But Dan never got jealous. It was you that kissed him and he pushed you away. Kaley, you two aren’t together.” I remembered to stay calm, speaking slowly to make her understand. It was like she was a child and I was trying to get a message through to her. Kaley was silent for a while. She was twitching and couldn’t stay still. She had dark circles under her eyes and her hair looked like it hadn’t been washed in days. It was upsetting seeing her like this. She’s not her usual self at all. “I’m leaving to go on tour with Dan tonight. I’m going away for a bit. I hope you get better soon. Goodbye for now.”
With that I stood up and left for my bedroom. I gathered together more essentials that I would need for the tour, as well as anything else that I could fit in my suitcase to keep at Dan’s. I rummaged through my papers to find a spare CV that I had printed off a few weeks ago so that I could take it to the coffee shop.
I popped my head back through the living room door to see Kaley fast asleep. “Bye Kaley.” I whispered as I left the flat, remembering my keys on the way out this time.
I dragged my suitcase along the road and called in on the coffee shop on the way past.
“Going anywhere nice?” Seth asked, nodding his head towards the suitcase.
“Oh yeah actually. Going on tour with Dan and his band.”
“He’s in a band? That’s pretty cool. I’m in a band myself, I play bass and I'm lead vocals. Although we don’t go on any fancy tours, just stick to pub gigs! You should come along some time!”
“I would love to.” I grinned back at him. “You didn’t mention this band earlier on!”
“Ah it’s nothing major, just a load of mates. Anyway, what’s Dan’s band called? I always think the name is just as important as the songs.”
I chuckled slightly. I know that Dan always gets asked about his band name and he goes all shy. Firstly because it means talking about himself, which he hates. But secondly because they all pronounce it ridiculously wrong, and I know he gets embarrassed about that too. “It’s Bastille.” I finally replied.
“Bastille? As in eh eh oh eh oh?!” Seth slightly sung a part of Pompeii, making me laugh louder.
“Yeah! That’s the one! They have other songs too though you know!”
“I know, I know, it’s just the first song that I heard of theirs! Their album is proper good. Maybe you can try and get me tickets.” He nudged my arm and winked.
I smiled proudly. “It is a good album! I’ll ask Dan about tickets Their London show is in 2 weeks so I’ll be back then.” I checked the time and it was gone 7. “Shit I better go, we’re leaving in an hour!”
“See you around, Ally. I’ll pass the CV on.”
“Thanks! See you.” I called back as I left the coffee shop. I was so excited to get home. Finally the time had come to get away from London with Dan and I couldn't wait.
