59. First day of work

ALLY'S P.O.V.

I found myself starting off the morning the same way I started off the previous morning, running around trying to find something decent to wear. I had to look presentable for my first day of work.

Dan brought a cup of tea in for me and clambered back into bed. For some reason I couldn’t stop staring at him this morning and all I wanted to do was rip his clothes off, he just looked too good. His hair hadn’t been cut for a while so it was mental and fluffy, and he hadn’t shaved for a few days either so he had stubble lining his jaw. And my weakness was when he had his glasses on, he looked ridiculously gorgeous. I looked at the time and it was only 8am, I still had an hour and all I had to do was get dressed.

Dan noticed me staring at him and gave me a questioning look. Rather than responding I simply put the mug down on the side and crawled on the bed so I was sitting on Dan’s lap, my legs either side of him. Dan smirked as he understood where I was going with this as I began to kiss his neck.

Nearly an hour later and I was power walking down the street to the coffee shop. I was going to be late on my first day! In my head I was trying to think of a good excuse, I couldn’t exactly use the real one, ‘sorry I’m late, I was too busy fucking my boyfriend and couldn’t tear myself away from his arms.’ Not a good excuse at all.

I got to the coffee shop and it was 8:58, just in time. I opened the doors and Seth was stood there with a huge smile on his face. “Alllllly!” He screeched as I got further into the building.

“Seeeeth!” I mocked him, flashing a cheesy grin.

“Carol’s out the back, by the way.”

“Thaaaanks!” I said, still in the mocking tone.

I walked through the door that Seth was pointing to and saw Carol sat there going through a load of papers around her. “Ally, darling! How are you?”

“I’m really good thank you, yourself?”

“Very good thanks! Even better to have you here to lend a helping hand!”

“Ah trust me, I’m happy to help!”

“You’re a cutie.” She smiled. “Right, I’m gunna be back here for a while. Seth can teach you the basics but give me a shout if you need anything, okay? Don’t be afraid to ask any questions!”

“Okay, thanks Carol!” I said, smiling widely. I put my bag down and went back out to the front where Seth was stood playing on his phone.

“Alright girl?” He said whilst sliding his phone into his pocket. “My job to train you up then?” He smiled.

“Yeah, please!” I returned the cheesy grin at him.

Seth had just shown me how to work the tills when our first customer came in. “Ah Louise!” Seth greeted the woman at the door. She was tall, slender, blonde and absolutely stunning. I looked over at Seth and he obviously fancied the pants off of her. “The usual?”

“Ah thanks Seth, that would be great. How are you doing?”

“I’m pretty good thanks, how are you today?”

“I’m alright, yeah. Just dropped Ellie off at nursery so coming for my usual caffeine fix.” The beautiful woman flashed a smile towards me. “Hi, I’m Louise. And apparently a regular here!” She laughed and nodded towards Seth who was busy making her order.

“Hey, I’m Ally.”

“First day?”

“Yeah it is.”

“Ah well make sure this one treats you well!” She chuckled again as Seth handed her the coffee in exchange for some coins.

A few more minutes of ridiculous flirting between Seth and this Louise woman followed whilst I stood and observed, before our second customer of the day entered the shop.

“I better be off. See you tomorrow.” Louise said as Seth started serving the next customer. She gave a little wave and smiled her perfect smile as she left the shop.

“What even was that?!” I laughed when the other customer had left.

“That’s not very nice!”

“I’m not talking about that customer, I’m talking about your cringey attempts to flirt with Louise!”

“Oh, yeah.. Shit was it that obvious?!”

“A monkey would notice how much you like her. Ask her out!”

“It’s not that simple, she has a kid and I’m not sure how it stands with the kids father.”

“Then ask her out and you will find out! It can’t hurt can it?”

“Yes it could! She could say no!”

“She could say yeeees!” I teased, poking him in the ribs.

“Jeez Ally! If I say I will, can you stop poking me!” I grinned and nodded, pleased that I had got my own way.

The rest of the day continued with me learning a bit more and meeting more members of staff and just generally getting used to the job. Everyone was so lovely and made me feel so welcome, helping me out when I asked a question and making me comfortable.

When it was time to leave at 4 I couldn’t help but feel a bit upset, I had so enjoyed this day. I got back to Dan’s and excitedly told him about my day. He sat there with a grin on his face the whole time and was really pleased that I was loving my job so far.

The rest of the boys came home soon after me and we all treated ourselves to a massive Chinese takeaway. As we scoffed our way through the greasy food, all laughing and enjoying ourselves, I couldn’t help but feel like someone was missing. Kaley.

DAN’S P.O.V.

Ally started work at the coffee shop yesterday and she seemed to be loving it already. I was happy that she was enjoying herself but I couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous that she was enjoying herself so much without me there. I had to put those feelings aside though and put on my best fake smile as I held her hand whilst walking her to work. I just have to get used to her having a life away from me, I had to stop being such a clingy boyfriend.

We got to the coffee shop just before 10 as her shift today didn’t start until slightly late than yesterday. I decided to come inside and grab myself a latte for the walk home and so I followed Ally inside.

Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw as we entered the shop. I glanced over to a woman who was waiting for her order, talking and laughing with Seth. Even from the back, I knew who she was. I could never forget that long blonde hair and tall, slim figure. I began to panic as I didn’t want to face this woman. But then as she turned around I noticed the pushchair with a child no older than 18 months in. No. It couldn’t be. As she caught my eye her mouth dropped open, obviously as shocked to see me as I was to see her.
