"You should get some sleep, Brooke." Steve, Sam, and myself were the only ones awake at midnight.

"I'm watching the plane." I shook my head.

"I'll watch over it for you." Sam said.

"No thank you, Samuel. I'll be fine." I smiled lightly.

"Come on, Brooke. You're coming with me whether you like it or not." Steve took my hand and pulled me to the room he was sleeping in. My bag was on the edge if the bed. I pulled my dress off and started to look through my bag. I winced when I let out a sigh. "Brooklyn?"

"I'm fine, Captain Rogers. Really."

"What were you talking about, the other day when you told Eric how you were tortured when you were with Loki?" Steven's question made me stop. I put on a black tank top before sitting on the edge of the bed.

"I have a scar on the back of my neck." I pulled my hair to one side and showed him.

STEVE'S POV

The cut was jagged, like someone inexperienced cut her.

"That's one of the places they subdued me. But surprisingly, the cuts on my torso and my chest disappeared. But the mental cuts will never heal. I can still remember when they put the liquid form of the tesseract in me. It was the worst feeling ever. Like every part of my body erupted in agonizing pain. It hurt like that for, I don't know, two or three weeks? I lost track, I was so out of it." Brooklyn was gazing at the ground, her eyes were hazed.

"Brooke. You don't have to talk about it."

"Its alright, Captain Rogers." She blinked a few times, before looking up to me with a faint smile.

"I've been meaning to ask, how did get that scar on your arm?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"Oh. This little guy?" She turned her arm, looking at the scar. "I shattered my elbow in a mission. There's a metal rod in my arm from it."

"How did it happen?"

"I was working on a mission with Agent Morgan and Agent Ward. As you probably know, Agent Morgan is dead. But we were in Ukraine, uncovering something along the lines of an underground drug and weapon mission. I took in a ten team man team, Morgan took a fifteen, and Ward took ten. Out of those thirty eight SHIELD agents, Agent Ward and I were the only ones to come return to SHIELD. The Winter Soldier took the lives of those thirty six agents. He raided our make shift camp in the middle of the night. I woke up to the sounds of his foot steps. I never slept lightly when I was there. His steps were heavy and I could tell they didn't belong to one of my agents. SHIELD agents walk quietly if we're out in the field. But he managed to kill the whole team, give me a shattered elbow and a broken collar bone, and break Agent Ward's femur in a matter of fifteen minutes. I don't know why he left me alive. He was standing right over me when I was vulnerable, laying on the ground, bleeding out. Ward was knocked out. But at that moment in time, I wished the Winter Soldier would've killed me. His gray blue eyes looked right into mine. I blinked, and he disappeared. I used to think the Winter Soldier was just a story the older agents made up to scare the new ones. But I never forgot those eyes." She was looking at her hands. I was just staring at her. "What did I say, Steven?"

"The Winter Soldier isn't his name. He's Bucky Barnes. My best friend. He was froze by HYDRA and experimented on. He saved me about three years ago, from drowning. After he beat the shit out of me. I refused to fight him."

"You don't have to talk about it, Steven." Brooklyn put her hand on my shoulder. I took a deep breath, then nodded.

"You should get some sleep, Brooklyn." I kissed her forehead. We laid down beside each other, she put her face in my chest. I put my arms around her body, resting my chin on the top of her head.

And this is how I plan on involving Bucky... 😏
