"What?" Pepper and Natasha gasped at the same time. I ran my hands through my hair, keeping them on the back of my head.
"Brooke, does Steve know?" Natasha asked.
"No. I don't know if I'm actually pregnant."
But I can't be. This will ruin everything. I told Steven I didn't want a baby because it would get in the way of my work and I could potentially kill it or myself with the tesseract in me.
"Brooke?" Pepper sat beside me on the couch. "Do you want me to go take you to Dr. Banner?"
"No. Its- I don't want anyone else to know." I shook my head. "If Steven finds out I'm pregnant from somebody else, he'll be furious."
"No one will tell him." Natasha shook her head.
"And I'll make sure Darcy doesn't go near Cap." Jane added with a sigh.
"I just need to be going home." I started to feel sick.
"I'll go with you home, Brooke." Natasha stood up. "Clint and I live just about fifteen minutes from you guys." We had flown a jet to Stark Tower since we lived in DC and Pepper lived in. New York.
"Thank you, Pepper. It was wonderful to have you invite me." I smiled the best as I could as I stood up.
"Anytime, Brooke. If you ever need anyone to talk to, just call me." Pepper patted my shoulder as I left with Natasha.
We were silent for a few minutes in the jet.
"Brooke? How will Steve react when you tell him?" She glanced over to me. I didn't know how to properly word it.
"He'll be ecstatic. Beyond happy." I looked down at my hands, taking them off of the jet wheel since I really didn't need to be holding it.
"But you?"
"I'm quite disappointed, actually. I don't want a child."
"Have you talked to Steve about it?"
"Yes. And he said he understands but a part of me thinks he thinks I dislike children. That's not true because I truly and honestly want a child with him, but I can't. I don't have time for it."
"If I was able to have children, I'd have one with Clint." Natasha said quietly. Oh. That's when I realized how touchy this conversation was for her.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Natasha."
"Oh no, its fine. We both want one. But with my damned body, I can't. It broke his heart. I love kids, it may not show, but I do. They're like little bundles of joy when they're born." Natasha smiled, though it was more of a sad smile. "Brooklyn, I think you should go through with having this baby. It will make Steve the happiest man alive. He's ninety eight, almost a hundred years old and you two are perfect together. I think you should really consider this."
"I will." I nodded with a sigh.

"Three months along, Brooke." Banner wore a smile on his face.
"Three months? But, Banner, I don't show it, do I?" I looked down at my slightly curved belly.
"Well, a little. But with Steve having the Super Solider Serum in him, there's no telling what the stage is, how old the fetus is, or if you both will live through this."
"Live through this?" I repeated, my voice was only a whisper though as I looked up to Banner's dark brown eyes.
"See, the serum in Steve made his metabolism faster than normal humans. The baby seems to have taken that from Steve and its sucking the nutrients and all from your body before you can replace it. That's why you've been weak for a while now. And the baby is basically starving you. Have you noticed a difference in your eating habits?"
"Well, no because I really don't eat a lot due to my working schedule." I shook my head.
"Then that's not healthy for either of you, Brooke. You need to be eating more and drinking more water. And take time off of SHIELD and stay home."
"But, Banner-"
"Doctors orders, Brooke. I know that if Steve finds out that you don't listen and you keep on your regular schedule and something goes wrong, he'll be pissed. Listen to me and be smart, Brooklyn." Banner put his hand on my shoulder.
"Okay." I nodded.
"Have a good evening, Brooklyn."
"You too, Doctor Banner." I waved a little as I left the medical room. I was wearing a large hoodie to try to cover up the bump growing on me. I needed to talk to Fury next. "Director Fury? Its Romero." I knocked on the door before going in. He was sitting at his desk, looking at the computer screen. "Can I have a conversation with you, Director Fury?"
"Of course, Brooklyn. Have a seat." Fury gestured to the empty chairs in front of his desk.
"I'd rather stand, thank you." I shook my head. "Director Fury... I'm going to have to take time off of SHIELD."
"Why?"
"Because.... I'm pregnant." I said quietly.
"Is it Captain's?"
"Of course." I nodded.
"Then you may take the time off you need." Fury nodded, leaning back in his seat.
"Just like that? You aren't going to yell or ask questions?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows together in confusion.
"Not unless you want me to. But how far along are you?"
"Banner says three months but I don't look like it."
"Does Cap know?"
"Not yet. I plan on telling him when he returns from the missions you sent him on."
"I can call him and send in another agent for his replacement-"
"That won't be necessary, Fury. Please. I'd rather he finish his work then come home. It'll be fine, honestly." I shook my head.
"As you wish. Have a good evening, Brooke." Fury said.
"You too, sir." I nodded once before leaving his office. That went better than I thought. I smiled, content with myself.
