When I awoke, Bucky was already gone. I got a shower, then went to my room. Fury had messaged me.

I have something I want you to help me with when you get to the base.

I put on my skin tight black suit and put my hair in a ponytail before going to the base.

I walked into Fury's office. The lights were off and the hologram was on.

"Romero? All of my other top agents are busy at the moment. So I need you to gather a rescue team. Here's everything you need." Fury showed me the screen of the hologram. "Location is in Brazil. Fourteen SHIELD executives and agents were taken hostage. I don't know who has them but you can decide how many people you want to take. I'm late for a meeting. Lock up when you're done." Fury left me in his office.

"Alright. Who are the SHIELD executives and agents who went missing?" I muttered to myself as I started going to work.

I walked out of Fury's office about four hours later with a huge file. I walked to my office, across the building.

"Brooklyn!" Steve ran towards me.

"I'm busy, Captain Rogers." I kicked the door to my office in and started to shut it with my foot when he stopped me.

"You can make time for me."

"Quite frankly I can't. I have fourteen SHIELD agents and executives to rescue in the next seventy four hours. So no, I cannot make time for you." I put the files on my desk then walked back out of my office.

"Brooke. Calm down." Steve stopped me.

"Gather Agent Romanoff, Barton, and Wilson. Tell them to meet me in my office. Now let me go, Captain." I walked out of his grip but he pulled me back into my office. "Steven!"

"Brooke. Listen. I'm sorry. I was too harsh yesterday. Please forgive me." He held my hands between our chests, his lips inches from mine.

"I forgive you, Captain. Now get off me so I can assemble the team."

"I'll get Natasha and Barton. You get Sam." Steve kissed my lips before leaving.

"Damn it, Steven." I sighed. I pulled out my phone and called Sam. "Samuel? Come to my office as soon as possible." And I hung up before he could say anything. Natasha, Clint, Steve, and Sam were in my office within the next fifteen minutes. "Alright. Fury put me in charge of this mission. Our location is in Brazil. Here are the files, wheels up in five."

I was sitting in my office in the back of the plane. Steve knocked on the opened door before shutting it behind him.

"What do you need, Captain Rogers?" I asked, putting my pen down.

"Answer a few of my questions." He sat on the arm of the chair in front of my desk.

"I'm not sure if I have the answers to all of them, Steven." I whispered, looking into his eyes.

"Well try. When did you talk to Bucky?"

"Steven I-"

"Don't try playing stupid, Brooklyn. Answer the damned question."

"When we were at the Smithsonian."

"What did he say?"

"He just asked how you were doing." I stood up and walked out of the office, only to be pushed against the wall by Steve.

"I'm not done asking questions, Brooke. Why is he only seeing you?" Steve asked. He had his hands roughly on my shoulders.

"I am not answering any more questions, Steven. Do whatever you will with me, but I'm not answering your questions." His grip was starting to get tighter. "Steven! Ouch! You're hurting me!" He was suddenly ripped away from me by Clint and Sam.

"Brooke? Are you okay?" Natasha asked.

"I'm fine, thank you." I nodded. "Thank you, Barton, Wilson." I walked back into my office, about to call Fury when Sam walked in. "A moment, Samuel."

"You need to start talking, Brooke." He locked the door behind him.

"I don't even know what to tell you, Samuel. I don't know what to tell Steven." My voice cracked as I struggled to hold the tears back. "He hasn't been himself lately."

"Maybe because you haven't been yourself lately."

"I don't know what's going on with me either, Sam." I turned my back to him. I crossed my arms tightly, hugging myself. "Please leave, Samuel."

"Brooklyn-".

"Please." I cut in.

"If you need anything, you know where to find me." Sam closed the door behind him. I sat in my chair, pulling my knees to my chest as I started to cry.

"Natasha and I will go in first to clear the halls out. I'll go in the south, you go in the north, Natasha. Then when I say, you three will come in and take the east, west, and south. But not until I say. Wilson? I want you to put the plane in neutral and make sure its staying still, before you come and join. None of you will enter the building until Natasha I meet up in the security room." I walked to the door of the plane. Natasha stood beside me.

"Do you want to go first?" She asked.

"Of course." I jumped out of the plane, doing a front flip before letting myself fall a little ways. I pulled the parachute out and let myself fall a little easier to the ground. When I was about fourteen feet from the ground, I released the parachute, letting it let me go. I landed lightly on my feet and started running silently into the building. I shot three of the guards, then kicked the door open. I sprinted up dozens of stairs, shooting a few men in the process. There were only two levels to the building. I made it to the top level, about to cross the metal bridge type thing to the security room when a man dropped from the ceiling. He pulled out a knife. I stepped up on to the rail and balanced myself. The man swung his arm around, trying knock me off my feet. But I jumped and kicked his face. Within five minutes, he managed to knock me off the railing. I was hanging on to the edge. If I let go, I'd fall a good two hundred feet down. Someone grabbed my hand and pulled me up. It was Steve. I took off in a sprint to the security room. Sam, Natasha, Barton, and Steve stood behind me as I hacked into the system. "They're in the basement. Sam? Would you like to give me a ride to the plane while the others get the executives?"

"Sure." Sam shrugged.

I landed the plane beside the building and opened the hatch in the back. I helped the SHIELD executives into the plane.

"Good job, agents." Glenn Smith patted my shoulder as the plane took off. Natasha and Barton were piloting it.

"Agent Romero?" Steve waved me over to him. We ended up walking back to my office. "I'm sorry for everything, Brooklyn. I really am."

"I accept your apology. But I'm afraid I don't want to continue our relationship, Steven." I whispered

"Why?"

"You've been different for the past two days. I'm terribly sorry, Steven." I kissed his cheek before walking out of my office.
