BROOKLYN'S POV

When I awoke, Steve wasn't beside me. I didn't even realize I had been moved to his bed. My phone vibrated.

Brooklyn. Come to base as soon as possible. -Fury

I changed into a pair of dark skinny jeans and a black button up. I brushed out my long brunette hair and put on a little eyeliner and mascara. Then, before leaving the room, I put my earpiece in and my pistol in the back waist band of my pants. And I made a stop in the living room. Bucky was still breathing, though it was shallow and slow while he sleepy. I speed walked towards the front door when Steve stopped me, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Brooklyn? Where are you going?"

"Non of your concern, Captain." I started to walk again when he stopped me.

"You are my concern, Brooke-"

"You don't have to apologize about last night, Steven. That was all on me. I know you and you'd apologize about it but it wasn't your fault. I shouldn't be the way I am. But that's what we have to deal with." I took a deep breath. "I am terribly sorry, Steven. I love you with all my heart. But I broke up with you last night. I don't think it would be wise for us to be around each other anymore."

"Brooke. I didn't mean what I said-"

"That's not what I was meaning, Mr. Rogers. You clearly don't trust me. You follow me around like a lost puppy. I wouldn't mind that you were with me every second of the day because I adore your company but the way you treat me, I am not very fond of. I am an independent woman. I will be treated that way." I turned and left the room. Damn it, Brooklyn. I was too harsh on him. Just as I got to the stairs of the apartment building, I had a thought about going to apologize. But Fury needed me. I ran down the stairs, skipping the last few before speed walking down the street.

As I was walking out of the elevator at the base, my head started to spin and I started to loose my breath.

"Agent Romero? Are you okay?" Maria Hill asked, walking over to me. I closed my eyes, trying to stop my head from spinning but it didn't work. "Brooklyn?" Maria put her hand on my shoulder. My knees suddenly buckled from under me. I collapsed to the floor. "Call a medic team!" Maria yelled as she bent down to me. "Brooklyn! Can you see me?" She asked, holding my face and making me look to her. I couldn't find my voice. My body started hurting.

"What's wrong?" I heard Fury's voice.

"She walked out of the elevator and looked like she was about to pass out." Hill replied.

"Brooklyn? Do you know who I am?" Fury asked. All I could do was nod as I struggled to breath. "Get her to the medic room on the top floor." I felt my body be lifted from the floor.

STEVE'S POV

"Steve!" Sam ran into my apartment.

"Sam? What's wrong?" I jumped to my feet. Bucky jumped slightly on the couch, opening his eyes.

"Its Brooke. Hill said she passed out in the hallway at the base."

"Why-" I stopped. "Her heart."

"Steve?" Bucky sat up slowly.

"Stay here, Buck. I'll go check on her."

"Keep me updated." He hesitated before laying back down on the couch.

"I will. And don't do anything stupid while I'm gone. Brooklyn'll kick my ass if you get hurt anymore."

"Fine. I'll just stay here." Bucky muttered.
