BROOKLYN'S POV
Bucky walked into the kitchen just moments after I had made coffee.
"How was your night?" Bucky asked, getting himself a cup of coffee.
"Pretty good, I suppose." I smiled a little. Steve walked into the kitchen too. He gave me a smile, his blue eyes shined as he got a coffee cup out of the cupboard. As he was pouring the coffee into his cup, Steve bumped his hip with mine which made me almost spill my drink. I sighed through my nose and gripped the cup a little tighter. He took a sip of his drink and turned his back to me before squishing me against the corner of the two counters.
"Okay. What's going on?" Bucky asked. "You two don't normally act like this."
"Should we tell him?" Steve asked, looking over his shoulder to me. I looked over to Bucky but then looked back to Steve.
"Naaa." I shook my head with a grin.
"Tell me what?" Bucky asked.
"Nothin." Steve shook his head, turning to face me. He wore a grin from ear to ear. Sam walked into the apartment, then. Aubrey walked out of the bedroom moments later.
"Good morning, darling. How was yesterday?" I asked Aubrey.
"I enjoyed it actually. Sam and Bucky took me to the roof of the base." Aubrey smiled. "I want to be a SHIELD agent, Brooke." I almost choked on my coffee.
"Aubrey, love." I sighed, sitting my cup on the counter and looking to her, crossing my arms under my breasts. "Being a SHIELD agent is tough, darling. You have to train for years to learn what not to do and what to do. You can't mess up a protocol or shoot the wrong person, honey."
"Its okay, Brooke. I know. I want to help people, like you. Steve was telling me how you're always worrying about everyone and how you're one of SHIELD's most valuable agents, next to Phil Coulson, Natasha Romanoff, and Captain Rogers himself."
"It took me a long time and a lot of sacrificing to get to my position in SHIELD, Aubrey." I rubbed the bring of my nose. "Please don't choose this path, Aubrey." I whispered, closing my eyes and putting my head down.
"I think Bucky and Sam were talking about taking you to the park or something, Aubrey." Steve put his cup down.
"Yeah." Bucky sighed to himself. That hit a nerve.
"If its that much trouble for you all, I could take care of Aubrey by myself, thank you very much." I snapped before storming back to the bedroom. I slammed the door shut and changed my clothes.
I put on a pair of skinny jeans and a hoodie before walking to where Aubrey kept her things.
"Aubrey? Love, come in here and change your clothing for me." I put a set of clothes on the bed, jeans and a pink long sleeve. Aubrey took the close to the bathroom and changed. Steve walked into the doorway of the room.
"Brooke? What's wrong?"
"Nothing, Captain Rogers. I'm taking Aubrey out somewhere." I kept my eyes on the bathroom door.
"Buck didn't mean to make you upset, Brooke." I ignored Steve and took Aubrey's hand as she walked out of the bathroom. "Brooklyn." Steve said more assertive and stopped me this time.
"What, Captain Rogers? What is so important-"
"Hey. You're important. Bucky and Sam are more than happy to take Aubrey out. You need to rest. You're still hurting, aren't you?" Steve brushed a strand of my dark hair out of my eyes.
"A little, Steven. But I'll be fine, honestly." Brooke shook her head.
He took Aubrey from me and took her to the kitchen.
