One Month Later:

"Everyone calm down!" Melanie shouted.

I scoffed, "Easy for you to say Miss New York!"

"What's the time?" Carter asked.

"4:50." Tyler replied.

My heart dropped hearing that, hearing that there was only ten minutes left until we found out if we got into our dream colleges.

We were all gathered in my living room. There was Carter, Tyler, Melanie, Lena and Lena's boyfriend Jared and then me of course.

Everyone's lives were about to change.

Well everyone except Melanie, hers already had. She'd been accepted to her top choice last week. She would be going to a college in New York in the fall.

Carter and I's top choice was UCLA. Tyler's was UC Berkeley and Lena and her Jared's was Pepperdine.

Lena and Jared's acceptance decisions had already come out yesterday but they wanted to wait until today so we could all open them together.

"You guys got this!" Melanie cheered, trying to relieve our stress.

It didn't work.

I grabbed Carter's hand for comfort as I frantically refreshed the page with my other, hoping the email would magically appear.

He wrapped his arm around me and kissed my forehead.

It had started to calm me down right before Tyler screamed, "It's time!!"

I jumped up in my seat and refreshed the page again.

I'd gotten the email.

I opened it and clicked the link to my portal.

"Is everyone at their portals?" Lena asked.

We all said some form of yes.

"Okay who's going first?" Melanie asked and she stood in front of us all.

"We will!" Lena exclaimed.

"Wait what!?" Jared asked nervously.

"Yeah it'll be fine!" Lena said.

"Okay!" Melanie spoke. "On the count of three!"

She counted up and they both clicked the log in.

Lena's loaded first and she jumped up.

"I got in!!!"

We all cheered and Melanie gave her a hug, "Congrats!"

Jared's loaded and he jumped up too.

"YES!"

We all cheered again and Lena and Jared hugged.

"Alright next?"

I looked at Tyler and he gestured for us to go first but I gestured right back at him.
