Chapter 28: No Matter What

Jen's Pov:
I survived five days alone with all three kids. It was not as difficult as I thought, considering Lorelei is independent and helps me a lot. It's 8:30, Ainsley is asleep in her bed with Ava and Eli is sleeping in his crib. Lorelei is in her room and I'm watching tv on the couch, waiting for Kyle to come home. I hear the door open quietly as to not wake the kids. Once he sees me on the couch he drops his bag and runs to give me a kiss. I stand up, he embraces me and kisses me deep. I giggle at him

"Quite a greeting" I smile

"Well I missed you" he smiles back

"I missed you too, how was California"

"It was beautiful, thank you for letting me stay in your house"

"Of course, did you like it?"

"It's very stylish, very you. I really liked going through all your stuff" he smiles

I blush a little "What were you looking for? Did you find anything?"

"Just some very adorable baby pictures"

I laugh a little "my mom has tons more I'm sure she will show you someday"

He raises an eyebrow at me " Someday? Are  we talking about the future"

I lean my head on his chest and he kisses the top of my head

"I guess I'm thinking about it a little"  I admit

"Well then can I ask you a question, what do you feel about marriage"

I shoot my head up at his question

"I'm not proposing!" He quickly adds "I just want to know if it's something you believe in or even want"

"Really you just got home do we need to have this conversation now?" I sigh

"Jennifer" he says a little frustrated and I look towards him

"Well, I've never been married, and you know my past relationship history. Honestly I should be asking you about that, you've been divorced twice"

"Well the first time she left me, I don't count that............But I believe in love"

"You're such a romantic"

"You know how much I love you right"

"Yes, I love you too" I peck his cheek

"So maybe one day, we could make it official?

I smile, gaze in his eyes, and blink a bit seductively " yeah maybe one day"

He breaks our trance and changes the subject, knowing that my commitment issues are about to rise again "so how were the kids"

"Surprisingly great. Ainsley only had one nightmare in three days!"

"That's fantastic" he says genuinely

"And Eli, is getting so much better at pulling himself up in his crib."

"Awesome my little strong man, and how was Lorelei"

My face drops a little "umm not great"

"What happened, did you and her fight?"

"No, actually we had some issues with Annie. But on the bright side, I had a really amazing moment with her. I kinda felt like her mom, she placed her trust in me and I think she agreed to go shopping with me"

"Wow, I can't believe she said yes to that. It makes me so happy that you two are bonded. It's all I've ever wanted"

I caress his cheek lovingly with my thumb "that's very sweet, but you need to talk with your daughter"

"Well what happened?"

"I can't tell you what happened, it's not my place"

"Jen we tell each other everything?"

"Yes I know but babe"

"What happened with Annie?"

"Lorelei needs to tell you this"

I lead him up the stairs and we go into Lorelei's room. She jumps out of bed and gives her father a big hug. It warms my heart to see them together. I turn my attention towards Lorelei

"Your Dad was asking about this weekend, he wants to know what happened with Annie"

Lorelei looks to me with fear in her eyes and shakes her head

"Lorelei what's wrong?" Kyle asks concerned

"It's just....." Lorelei stammers

I sit down on the bed next to Lorelei and grab her hand. She looks to me terrified. Kyle kneels in front of us and looks to Lorelei

"Sweetheart did something happen, did you and Annie get in trouble?"

"No Dad, it wasn't like that?"

"Did you and Annie fight?"

"No but her mother made her leave" Lorelei begins to cry

"Why?"

Lorelei leans her head in my chest and cries, I run my hand through her hair and speak up "well at first her mother yelled at me. It would have been nice to know you slept with her once"

"That was.......it was just one night. It meant nothing" Kyle stutters a little embarrassed

"Well apparently it meant a lot to her. Anyway after that her mother became angry when she discovered something on Annie's phone and demanded she leave"

"What was it?"

I look to Lorelei who looks at her father. I can see her trying to get out the words as tears stream down her face. Eventually she gives up and grabs her phone. She opens it to a photograph, hands it to her father, then buries her face into me. I try and rub her back reassuringly. Kyle takes the phone from her hand and looks at the photograph of Annie and Lorelei kissing on the screen. He looks at me in shock. I can tell he doesn't exactly know what to say so he joins our hug

"Lorelei, is Annie your girlfriend?" He asks after a moment of pause

She nods her head but still refuses to lift her face

"Honey, you had my worried that you were taking drugs or murdering people"

She laughs a little then turns to look to her father

"You're not disappointed in me?"

Kyle takes her hands in his "That's impossible, you could never disappoint me as long as you are true to yourself. I love you, and this is a part of who you are"

Lorelei hugs her father tight and I decide to leave the room. I can see that they need some time alone to be together. I was, truly touched by the way Kyle handed this situation. It made me fall in love with him even more. After awhile, Kyle joins me in our bed. He hugs me tight

"Thank you for being there for my kid"

"I love her, and I love you. You were incredibly supportive and loving"

"I am okay with her being gay, but it did shock me a bit"

"That's normal I guess, I'm just glad you're not against being gay"

"How could I ever be against love"

I smile at him "and that's why I love you"

He pulls me in for a kiss and moans against my lips

"You know it's been five whole days" he smirks

I roll my eyes "we are not animals, we've survived longer without sex. We have three kids to take care of"

He laughs "I know but at least I get to sleep cuddled in bed with you."

"That's very sweet" I can feel his hand starting to creep under my shirt and I giggle. He pinches my nipple and I moan

"Do you want me to stop" Kyle asks smugly

I move my self on top of him and kiss his stupid lips senseless. It's going to be a long night.
