As my mom drives me to Pop's diner to meet my possible new friends, she chatters away at how it's so great that I've already met nice people.
"Bye, mom!" I say as I shut the car door. She winks at me and drives away leaving me alone in this parking lot dimly lit by the neon sign.
Ok, Y/N. You can do this. I think to myself.
I walk in the doors of the diner and I search the rows of booths for any familiar faces. In the second to last booth by the window sit Betty, Jughead, Archie, Veronica, and a boy I've never seen before. New introductions. Great.
"Y/N! Over here!" Betty says when she sees you standing by the door.
You smile and walk over before sliding into the seat next to Jughead and Betty.
"Hey, Veronica! Long time no see!" I say.
"Wow! What a coincidence that we both ended up in Riverdale!" Veronica says.
"Oh, by the way, this is Kevin!" Archie motions over to the boy next to Veronica.
"Kevin Keller at your service" He held out his hand for me to shake.
"Nice to meet you, Kevin!"
"Kevin's dad is the sheriff here so if you ever find yourself in a sticky situation, you can count on Kevin to give you a hand," Veronica says with a wink.
"So this is your hang out spot I'm guessing?" I ask as Pop brings out orders for the gang without them even ordering.
"Why yes, it is!" Pop Tate answers for them. "You must be Y/N! They have already told me so much about you! What would you like sweety? Now that you are hanging out with these goons you have to start thinking of a regular!" He winks.
"Oh man! So much pressure!" I smile. "I'll have a vanilla milkshake and some curly fries please."
"Coming right up!"
The six of us chat the night away as if I was always part of the group. Laughing and making new memories.
After we all said our goodbyes, Archie offered to walk home with me because we were neighbors. Betty had decided to go home with Jughead. It was a little awkward, I will admit. My group at home was all girls so I wasn't used to hanging out with boys. We walked most of the way in silence until Archie spoke up.
"So, how do you like Riverdale so far?"
"You mean based on the one day I've been here?" I smile up at him. "Pretty good!"
"Well once school starts, things are really gonna get busy."
"Yeah? Well, I don't mind busy. I'd rather be busy than bored."
"True. And with some of the kids at Riverdale High, you will NEVER be bored, lemme tell you that." He says with a smirk.
"Like who?"
"Well for starters, Cheryl Blossom is an example. She is the queen bee of the school. Her brother was murdered by her own father sophomore year, and she burned her own house down."
"Dang she sounds pretty bada**"
"Yeah, that's one way to describe her."
"Well, I'll try and steer clear of her."
We arrived at my house.
"Well Y/N, this is where I bid you adieu," Archie says.
"Bye! Thanks for walking me home!"
"Oh, I almost forgot! Betty and I always walk to school together and since you live here too, I'll swing by at 7 so you can walk with us!"
"Sounds good! See you tomorrow!" I walk inside and closed the door.
"Well, who's that handsome fella?" I almost jump right out of my skin.
"Gosh mom, don't sneak up on me like that!"
"Sorry Y/N. I'm just glad you're making friends. But answer my question!"
"His name is Archie. Archie Andrews."
"Andrews... Andrews... Oh, he's the son of Fred Andrews correct?"
"How did you know?" I ask, very confused.
"Oh did I forget to mention? I grew up in Riverdale along with everyone else in this town."
"You what?!"
