(Also in this one pretend that they are strangers and in like their mid 20s who somehow didn't know each other in Riverdale lol)
"Last call for the flight to Greendale, New York!"
"Sh!t" Archie mumbles to himself as he quickens his pace in the airport.
His face reddens with frustration when he gets stuck behind a slow elderly couple.
"Alright folks! Enjoy your flight!"
"No! No! No!" He hears from a woman behind him. "This can't be happening! Mother is going to kill me!"
As he reaches the terminal, he sighs and pulls out his old iPhone 5. "Hey dad!" Archie tries to stay positive. "Uhh, so looks like I might be a little late. Yeah. I missed my flight... uh huh... yeah I understand... I'll find out... sorry again dad... alright see you soon..."
Archie approached the man at the front desk, stuck behind the red headed woman who was now screaming.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE NEXT FLIGHT ISN'T FOR 6 HOURS?"
"Sorry to cut in," he awkwardly interrupted the angry woman, "did you say six hours until the next flight to Greendale?"
"Uh, yeah!" She huffed running a pale hand through her long red hair. "I better be upgraded to first class.... the flight left 15 minutes early!" The poor man at the desk looked scared out of his mind.
"Y- y- yes ma'am. Of course ma'am. A- a- and you sir?" The man shrunk further into his seat as he stuttered. Archie gave him an apologetic smile.
"Whatever you can do, thanks!"
The man got to work getting the two new tickets on the next flight home. Meanwhile, Archie and the woman set up camp in the chairs at the gate, getting as comfortable as they could in the thinly padded airport chairs.
"Unbelievable." The woman mumbled. Suddenly she turned to Archie. "Cheryl Blossom!" She managed a fake smile and held out her hand. "Figured we might as well get to know each other of we're going to be spending the next six hours together."
Accepting her handshake, he returned the smile. "Archie Andrews. Do you live in Greendale?"
"Close, I grew up in Riverdale. I graduated about 8 years ago."
"Woah! Me too! Except I graduated 7 years ago. We must have missed each other when we were going to school!"
Cheryl managed a real smile. "I guess so!"
The two sat in a comfortable silence, doing their own things for about 4 hours, until Archie's growling stomach broke the quiet atmosphere. A nervous blush rose upon his cheeks. "Up for food?"
The acquaintances wandered the terminal, searching for a decent place to eat lunch.
"And to think, of my connecting flight haven't been late, I could be halfway to a burger and a milkshake from Pop's by now." Cheryl complained.
"Dang, now that sounds good. This whole situation is such a pain in the a$$."
She laughed. "You can say that again. How about this place?" She pointed to a cute diner at the end of the terminal. "Won't be as good, but hopefully will have the same effect."
"Sounds good to me!" Archie lay a hand o we his stomach as it growled again. "Let's hurry I'm not sure I can handle this pain for much longer."
Rolling her eyes, the two headed over to the diner. They sat down at the bar and ordered their food.
As soon as the plate touched the counter, Archie started chowing down.
"Boys." Cheryl mumbled as she bit her maraschino cherry off of its stem.
"What did you say?" Archie looked up, a string of lettuce dangling from his mouth.
"Never mind." She shook her head and grinned.
The two chatted away, as if they had been friends their entire lives. They talked about friendships, lovers, hardship, and their crazy home they called riverdale. (But I'm sure you already know what goes on there ;))
"Sooooooo... what are your plans once you get back to Riverdale?" Archie asked awkwardly.
"Why, big red? Can't get enough of me?" She nudged his shoulder jokingly.
"Oi! Who you calling big red! You've got more red than me!" Archie nudged her back, taking a sip of her milkshake.
"Fair enough. Um, I'll probably stay as far away from mommy dearest as possible, maybe hang out with a few old friends. Honestly, I haven't been back since I left. Too many bad memories were made in that town." She looked down at her almost empty plate. "What with J.J. and daddy and my mother trying to kill me at all hours of the day."
"Maybe we could hang out! It might be better than hiding from your mom. I'm sure my dad would love to have you for dinner or something!"
She looked up at him. "That would be awesome! We also have to make a Pop's stop, because as good as these fries are, they're no match for Pop's."
As the new friends get up and pay before leaving, a man's voice comes on to the loud speaker.
"Last call for the flight to Greendale, New York!"
Cheryl and Archie flash each other a "not again" look before breaking out into a full sprint back to their terminal to make their flight back home.
A/N: YIKES this is not what I wanted this oneshot to be like at all... I am so sorry this is so boring and short but hey at least the idea was good. For those of you who happened to enjoy it, thanks for being here cause it's y'all who keep me updating on occasion lol.
