Running. But from what?
Screams. But from where?
Darkness. But why?
Jughead was alone, in the middle of the woods over by Sweetwater River. He had no recollection of how he go there, or why he was there. Was he jumped? Drugged? Kidnapped? He didn't really question it though.
Ever since Jughead left Riverdale High and transferred over to Southside High, nothing has been the same.
His friends talked to him less, he became even more of a loner, and he didn't seem to care about much.
Everything at Southside High was so different. Almost everyone was either in a gang, a drug dealer, a drug user, or escaped jail and used the place to keep the cops away. It really was a scary place. You couldn't be there at night unless you were armed, let alone be there all by yourself.
But how did he get there? Why couldn't he stop running?
Suddenly, he ran into a huge oak in the middle of the woods.
"Well that's strange." He said out loud.
The oak was standing all alone. It was the only tree that was still flourishing with bright green leaves and animals scurrying up and down its trunk and branches.
Seemed kinda sketchy to him.
There is a huge crack of lightening and rain starts pouring down over him. Archie stands in front of him, shaking his head.
"Why did you do that man?"
"Do what?"
Another crack of lightening and Archie was nowhere to be seen.
Jughead decided to keep walking. He did not want to be anywhere near that tree. Something didn't seem right.
All of a sudden, a piercing scream rings throughout the forest and his head is searing with pain. Dropping to the ground, he holds his head in his hands.
'What is that noise?!' He thinks through the pain.
Then everything went black.
When Jughead came-to once more, he was just standing by the edge of the frozen river.
A small figure sits in a chair in the middle of the river. She is tied up. A man in a black hood holds a cold metal pistol to her temple.
Betty.
She screams, sending white hot searing pain into Jugheads brain once more.
He tried to yell out to her.
"BTTY!" His screams are muffled by something. Then he felt the metallic duct tape covering his mouth.
He reaches up to rip it off. His hands won't move.
"Come on." He mumbles again under the tape.
He tried again, but his muscles won't work. His body feels numb and he can't bring his hands up to his face.
He remembers how he couldn't stop running before. He tries to sprint towards her as fast as he can, but he won't budge from the spot he was standing in.
He tries sitting down. Won't move.
Wiggle his toes? Won't move.
The only muscles he can move at all are his mouth and his eyelids. But his eyelids were growing heavy once more and his mouth was still taped shut.
The world goes black. Again.
Now he is standing right in front of her. The offender probably wanted him to get a front row seat.
He could see the pain in her beautiful emerald green eyes now bloodshot, with hot tears trickling down her face. Her thin blonde ponytail messy from all the manhandling she has been through. Her clothes wrinkled, her mouth taped shut as well, the gun still held at her temple.
Still unable to move a muscle.
The ice begins to crack. The whole world went silent. You could have heard a pin drop. The ice seemed to be creating a circle around them. Jughead just assumed it found where the pressure on the ice was.
The assassin looks unfazed, as if willing to accept death as long as the two of them go down too.
CRACK.
Jughead can feel the icy water splashing his face. The screams fade away. But why are they fading? Why is the water only splashing his face?
A sweaty Jughead opens his eyes to see a worried Betty and Archie standing over him. Veronica is dipping a rag into icy water to clean the beads of sweat off his forehead.
"Yay you're awake!" Betty says giving him a gentle kiss on the cheek.
"Yeah man, you look awful! What were you dreaming about?"
He bolts up and gives them both a huge hug.
"Oh my gosh you guys are ok!"
"Man, someone had a bad dream." Veronica says with a smirk.
"Yeah, what happened Jug?"
They were watching a movie on Betty's bed and Jughead had dozed off.
"You started sweating like crazy and mumbling things we couldn't understand. We couldn't wake you up and it was really freaky." Betty says, still worried.
Jughead grabs her hand and sighs of relief, still flustered by his dream.
He re-tells it to his friends in great detail while they all sit there and laugh.
Jughead is just glad that all his friends are safe and he can move his arms and use his mouth again.
Besides, without those crucial elements, how else would he be able to eat Pop's burgers!
A/N: ahhhhhh this one was so much fun to writeeee! Lemme know if there's any mistakes cause I changed some things like halfway through writing it.
