A/N: Hey everyone! I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while! I ran out of ideas and kind of lost motivation BUT DON'T WORRY I've got some ideas now! Also, WOW THESE VIEWS! Y'all are awesome! Here's some bughead fluff to get you through the week. :)
"I'm nervous, Jug." Betty rubbed her clammy palms together as they drove to the small family dentist in the center of Riverdale.
"You'll be fine! This surgery only takes like 45 minutes and you'll be asleep the whole time! Besides, you'll be so drugged you won't remember a thing." Jughead reassured his girlfriend.
"Since when have you been the wisdom teeth expert?" the blonde questioned.
"Trust me, I spend a lot of time on the internet. I know what loopy looks like."
Jughead's humor calmed Betty down a little bit as they pulled into the small gravel parking lot of the dentist's office.
Jughead placed his hand in her's. "Take a deep breath, it will be over before you know it."
They walked inside, checked in, and waited for Betty's name to called. Jughead picked up the Winter 2016 issue of InStyle magazine and started to flip through it.
"Uh, Jug?"
"Hmm?" He didn't look up from the old issue.
"Is that a fashion magazine?"
"What? I'm not allowed to have an appreciation for expensive women's clothing?"
He smirked and went back to flipping through the tattered pages of the magazine.
"Betty Cooper?" The dental assistant popped her head out from behind the door to the rest of the office.
"Do you want me to come back with you?" Jughead asked.
"Yes please." Betty mumbled grabbing his hand tightly.
"Hi sweetie! My name is Meredith and I'm going to be helping Dr. Finch take out those stubborn wisdom teeth!" the dental assistant sat her down in the big chair. She turned to Jughead. "You must be her boyfriend?" He nodded. "You can stay until we sedate her, and you'll have to wait in the lobby until she's done." He nodded once more. "I promise she's in good hands."
"Now, Betty, this is gonna feel a little strange, but all it does is supply the body with extra oxygen." Meredith placed the small tube up Betty's nose and started to check her blood pressure.
"Hey there!" A woman in her mid 50s walked in with a bright smile. "I'm Dr. Finch and I'll be taking those painful suckers out of your mouth with the help of Meredith here!"
Betty smiled, but and her smile faded as the doctor pulled out the needle of the I.V.
"Don't worry, we are going to give you some laughing gas so you don't feel a thing." The mask was placed over her nose and she started to feel calmer. The I.V. was placed in her arm and they were ready to sedate her for the surgery.
"See ya soon Betts!" Jughead smiled at Betty, who was now started to doze off, before he closed the door and headed for the lobby.
Roughly an hour later
Betty sleepily opened her eyes. Jughead looked up from his chair across from her and gave her a soft smile. "You're awake!"
Betty tried to sit up, but stumbled and almost fell off the chair that she was still sitting in.
"Woah there! Lemme get the wheelchair so we can get you out of here!"
"Ok." Betty muffled out of her gauze filled mouth and chuckled at the funny sound that came out instead.
Jughead wheeled the chair over to Betty and helped her into it. One of the blood stained gauze pieces fell out and she simply gaped at it.
"I- Is that my tongue?" Tears started to well up in her eyes.
"No, don't worry Betty it's just the gauze."
"Oh, ok." She said before slumping further down and dozing off.
Jughead helped her into the car. "Do you want me to run into Pop's and get you a milkshake?"
"OOh!" She yelped. "I wAnnaA cOMe!"
He laughed again and drove a block down towards the diner.
"Stay in the car." He instructed the giggling girl as he ran inside to get her a milkshake.
"Hey, Pop. Can I get two strawberry milkshakes to go?"
"Make that 7!"
Jughead whipped around to see Betty sitting in the booth behind him.
He sighed and rolled his eyes. "Two please."
Pop chuckled. "Sure thing Jug."
Jughead sat down next to Betty in defeat.
"Where's my phone?"
Jughead reached into his pocket and handed her the device, interested to see who she was going to call.
"HEY V!" She yelled. "CAN YOU HEAR ME? JUGHEAD AND I ARE AT POP'S. IS ARCHIE THERE? HI ARCHIE!... YEAH, I GOT THEM OUT... YEAH JUGHEAD IS HERE! Say hi to Veronica Jug! JUG SAYS HI! OKAY BYE!" She hung up the phone and handed it back to Jughead. "That was my best friend, Veronica. You know her, right? She goes to our school. I think..."
Pop placed the milkshakes in front of Betty.
"Two? All for me? Wow, Pop you're my favorite person. When was that last time I said I love you? Well, I LOVE YOU POP!"
Pop placed a hand on Jughead's shoulder and said: "Maybe you should get her home."
Jughead laughed and whispered, "Wish me luck!"
Betty rambled on the entire car ride home, happily slurping at her milkshakes before dozing off once more.
When Jughead pulled into the Cooper's driveway, he lightly shook Betty awake. She smiled sleepily and held out her arms to ask to be carried inside. Jughead rolled his eyes and scooped up his girlfriend. He opened the front door and tucked her in on the couch. He set up a little necessities station on the coffee table. Water, extra gauze, a stack of movies, her phone, the television remote, and extra blankets and pillows.
Exhausted from the day he'd had, he plopped into the armchair across the room and watched as his girlfriend peacefully slept.
Jughead smiled to himself as he thought, "One down, three to go!"
