It was almost 3 in the morning and I was still searching away. Ever since I turned 18, I had been searching nonstop. I could hardly sleep or eat ever. All I wanted was to be happy. After the abuse I suffered from my Dad after mom died all I wanted was to be happy. After the name appeared on my wrist that day it was all I could think about.

On the day of your 18th birthday a name appears on your wrist for only 24 hours. It's the last name of your soulmate. I had been patiently waiting for that day, because little me thought that I would find true love shortly after. Well, I was wrong. It has been over a year and a half and I still had yet to find the right Novak. I had search all over the country, even checking dating websites and birth records. Still I had yet to find the person I hoped to spend the rest of my life with.

Footsteps banged down the stairs.

"Sammy?" Dean called from halfway down, "What the hell are you doing up?" He was rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"I... um... nothing...?" I sputtered.

"Sammy, I told you, you have to stop searching and just left it happen naturally okay." He said it so calmly.

After his 18th birthday Dean had been majorly bummed out. A name never appeared on his wrist. He waited all day and checked his wrists every morning for weeks until he gave up. There had been cases when names didn't appear ever. Usually it meant either your soulmate died or there was nobody out there for you. I think we both still hope that there was just a glitch.

"Okay, sorry Dean..." I trailed off unsure of what to say next.

He sighed heavily and stomped back up the stairs. I turned off my laptop shoving it into a case before turning off the light.

Tomorrow was moving day. I was heading off to Stanford for my degree in law. I was overly excited but nervous all the same. I had promised myself that I would stop obsessing over soulmates during college so I had been cramming for information before tomorrow.

I drifted off to sleep that night my mind heavy with possibilities.

--------

I woke up around noon and packed up the last of my things. Dean and I piled into the Impala with our hand full of bags. Not only was I heading off to Stanford, but Dean was moving into the apartments close by.

We arrived at the campus only a few hours after we left. Dean parked his car in line with everybody else and helped me with my bags. We loaded them onto a cart and trekked to the administration building. Here I found my room number and a list of stuff they thought I should know.

I read over it while we waited in line for ID cards. My roommates name was Castiel. It was a strange name but I already like it. I checked over his last name even though I had room myself I didn't care. I sighed when I saw not Novak, but Collins.

Dean and I rushed through everything else we had to do and started towards my building. We walked up two flights of stairs before stopping at room 221B.

Dean stopped, "Alright Sammy, you ready?"

I nodded once and pushed the door open. Inside was a man. He seemed about my age and had sandy blonde hair that was somewhat messy but still well kept. His eyes were a beautiful deep brown that shined like stars. He was short, but moved confidently. I thanked God a few times for the gorgeous man in front of me.

He finally noticed Dean and I standing in the doorway and jumped a little.

I stepped closer to him and stuck out my hand. "Sam Winchester, and I assume you're Castiel?" I asked my voice full of hope.

He chuckled, "Nope, but Cassie is my older brother..." he trailed off when he looked up into my eyes. "Winchester you said, huh."

"Ummm, yeah" I replied slowly.

The bathroom door then flung open and a taller man with dark messy hair stumbled out. He turned around and our eyes locked.

"Uh, hey." His eyes sparkled in the sunlight streaming through the window. They were a light blue color, like the ocean on a sunny day.

He smiled and tilted his head a little to the left, "Samuel?"

"Yep, that would be me!"

We shook hands. His were cold and clammy. He looked over my shoulder to Dean and his eyes lit up a little brighter before he returned his gaze to me.

All I could think about was how my left wrist had a dull ache right where the name Novak had been written almost two years ago.

Hey-o! So I found this great fanfic idea on Instagram so I decided to write my first ever fanfic. Sorry if it sucks but whatever!
