I sit down on one of the sofas almost an hour later, tired and frustrated. The door is locked with three different locks, two that need keys and one with a keypad, which I obviously don't have the code to. There's something strange about the windows in the house. The glass seems different from what other windows look like, and the windows also have locks that need a key.
When I first came here, it seemed odd that Josh would have this many windows in a house with a kidnapped girl living in it, but I realized the first time we went somewhere that Josh lives in a somewhat secluded neighborhood with no other neighbors. It took around ten minutes of driving before I started seeing other houses. Josh seems to have thought of everything.
Even if I do escape, there's a big chance that Josh will catch me before I can get to another house. Josh is a lot bigger than me, and I've never been a great runner so the odds are against me. The biggest chance I have is to hide somewhere in the forest area and wait for him to pass me, then run for my life.
I start to hear shuffling upstairs, which snaps me out of my thoughts. I speed walk into the kitchen and start cooking breakfast for Josh and I, which is my cover story for being downstairs so early. He takes forever to wake up and get going so there's plenty of time to make a huge breakfast. I make bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, French toast, and a huge fruit salad. I also bake some cinnamon rolls just for the heck of it.

As I'm finishing up the food, I realize how much I've missed doing this. When I escape from Josh I should cook more often.
I hear footsteps coming down the stairs as I'm putting the cooking supplies in the sink. I turn around and damn.
Josh is shirtless, just wearing a pair of black sweatpants. His toned beautiful abs are on full display, nearly making my mouth water.
Damn it Nicole focus on the plan not Josh's abs
When he sees me, he looks confused.
"What are you doing up so early baby girl?"
Omg he called me baby girl again
"I wanted to make us some breakfast" I say with a smile. "Come sit down."
Josh walks over to the table and smiles. "Mmmm baby this smells delicious. Damn if I knew you could cook this well I'd have you make food more often."
We sit down and eat breakfast, talking about random things. I start thinking about how I'm going to get Josh to tell me about the windows.
"Nicole?" Josh's voice brings me back to reality.
"Yeah?"
"I was just wondering if you want the last piece of bacon."
"You can have it. I'm so full I won't need breakfast again for a while."
We finish breakfast, put the leftovers in the fridge, and load the dishwasher together. If Josh was this nice all the time, maybe I could stay.
Don't get your hopes up
But a girl can dream, can't she?
