Old Friendships are like
comfortably-worn-in
pickup trucks:

'Ya may not need 'em all the time...

but they're sure nice to have, like
when 'yer movin' or goin' fishin'.

Other folk see defects and wrecks...

you see character and history
in 'em scars.

Three things 'ya can count on
to make em' better...

bird dogs, shotguns, and coffee.

'Ya pretty much know
what to expect from 'em...

mostly.

'Ya really 'oughta spend a bit
of time with 'em 'ever-so-often,
even if it's just cruising...

so's 'ya don't forget what 'ya got.

'Ya 'oughta keep some fuel
in 'er tank at all times...

'cause your gonna want 'er
for an emergency someday.

'Ya ignore 'em too long...

'ya best put fresh fuel in 'em.

Ain't two of 'em the same...

just got their own kinda'...
...feel, 'ya know?

Shiny and clean is nice...

but 'ya can overlook a lot of crap
if they're there when 'ya need 'em.

'em new ones is 'everwhere 'ya look...

but luck ain't the only reason
the old ones got that way,
they're tough,
and  'ya ain't give up on 'em.

'Ya best watch where 'yer goin'...

'ya don't 'wanna
wreck the dang thing,
and get somebody hurt.

a/n: Ok, autocorrect was not
a good friend on this one...
just saying.
It inspired me to write
"Autocorrect be a Gangsta'".
Poetic humor for a change!
Thank you to Porky, my muse.
No more coyotees, man!
Lesson learned...
...but it was fun at the time!
