From Blades
To A Lady
In A Blink Of
The Longest Year'Twas her only friend, she felt
As upon the icy edge, she knelt
The crimson blade of 'notice me'
Asking 'shall I care for me'
A habit of hiding things
Not privacy, but lonely brings
Once she had control of things
Somehow lost her soul, it seems
Feeling strange, alone and small
Dealing with the change and all
Friend seemed to share her pain
Left her drowning in the rain
One who made her, saw not her fate
Other seemed to feel only hate
Would he care at all to see
Father is first love, you see
Subtle hints and clues from afar
To broken rules and razor scars
Didn't see them like he should
What he saw, misunderstood
If he didn't care for thee
Why then, she felt, should she
Trusted her to come to him
When demons play under skin
When, one day, he learned her truth
Smothered her with love and proof
Slow to help stitch her bleed
First must he relearn to read
Speak in ways that reach her ear
Trust his gut to hold her near
Summer sun dried some tears
Lessons of labor, facing fears
Learned to sing again a playful song
To help another and get along
Exhausting job near his side
Space to think, earning pride
End of blades, good use for rope
Work made muscle, cash, and hope
Autumn chill, temptations old
Daring her, knock them cold
Knows she can, won't let her stall
Truth called out, and wonderwall
Maggot cloaked as friend
In gut she knew, this must end
Lost one aimed only drown in pain
Hoped to drag her down, again
Whispers of the way to turn
Bridge afire, watching burn
Winter wind blows in new eyes
Taking charge, and binding ties
Turning corner in her soul
Growing up, feeling whole
Releasing reins, stretching wings
Speaking friends and choir sings
Passing pain, accepting hate
Working hard, grades great
Bully's words on def ears
Problem is their's, fewer tears
Anger passing, moving on
Stumbles few, anxious gone
Looking back in warm spring sun
Dreaming ahead and having fun
Taking stock, lessons learned
Pain is choice, trust is earned
Those who yell, hate, and scratch
If you choose, meet their match
Strength is within, don't be sad
Speak for help, it's to be had
Hard work pays in many ways
Helping others brightens days
Often others do not see
Even though they care for thee
Help yourself as best you can
Trust the rest to a higher plan
