Soul mates.
There just are no better words. Two souls, born generations apart, not mirrored, and hence reversed, but so similar as to be mistaken for each other. Identical twins fate twisted together through another's search for both of them and a half. Destined to be soon parted, yet never unwound.
Why did our time have to be so short?
It seemed as if the universe was cruelly teasing us for its own bullying pleasure. The monster had been devouring you long before, but you held on so long, enjoying so much, hiding your pain so well to spare us. To spare her. I failed miserably, but I kept trying to save her for you and our girl long after I had given up hope. Gasoline either burns or evaporates at the first opportunity and I know you understood she had become a seeker of sparks and flame long before I met her. She's exploded under the weight, masking her fear with anger, with vengeance, with control, flames consuming those around her while the fine conscience you gave her serves only as punishment. It seems as if she's intentionally created a hell she feels she deserves. Your eyes said so much, you saw us all so clearly, oh how I wish we'd had more time, I always wonder if you could have stayed, maybe we could have healed her in time, but I think we knew it could never work as a one way street. One end of the street
inevitably becomes filled
with vacant space.
