POETRY: noun

synonym of noun POETRY:
verse, song, grace, reflection

synonym of related adjective POETIC:
attractive, graceful, reflective, philosophical

POETRY originates as emotional
vomit in the form of partially
digested thoughts, words, and
phrases that spontaneously erupt
from an overburdened soul and
splatter ink across the page,
eventually distilling through an
often disturbing process of
paper crumpling, blasphemy, and
facial contortions, into something
similar to the gracefulness of a
woman's neck, or a turkey's neck,
depending on the writer's intent
and level of talent. Phases of the
moon, the tides, coffee, and dubious
black cats also can affect the quality
of the final distillation.  Many types
of poetry exist, however, there are
so many types and definitions of
poetry in existence that, upon study,
one must conclude that everything
contains at least some poetic element.
Even the ghastly aye aye has been
known to tap poetically with its freakishly long middle finger.  The
only known exceptions to this rule
are books and other writings labeled
"Poetry" which a particular reader
does not understand. In such cases,
what is labeled "Poetry", is actually
referred to as vomit and should be
left to ferment on a dusty book shelf
until such time as it becomes
suitable for the reader in question.
Reading poetry is similar to
watching clouds, as one reader
may see a beautiful woman
beckoning seductively, whereas
another may see their little sister
picking her nose.
