Long Green Time Machine

Spent a long week's pay
On two plus tons
Of three hundred horses
And forty year-old chrome
Cruising around town
After school next day
Burning old gas
And bald snow tires
Loaded up with girls
Give them a spin
Jeans cut too short
To be caught in
With long, long hair
Blowing in the wind
Screaming that song
Made us all grin
Found us some more
And did it again

Spent the whole next summer
Tuning her up
And cleaning her out
She'd roll like a tank
And stop like a boat
But she was just two tons
Four hundred horses
And forty year-old chrome
Cruising around town
The first day of school
Proving she was fast
And I was a fool
Burning all my gas
And brand new tires
That officer asked
Where was the fire
So we loaded up some girls
Give them a spin
Screaming that song
Made us all grin

Spent more than a year
Shaving doors
And frenching things
A two inch chop
And smooth the seams
A three inch drop
And longest curve I've ever seen
With candied pearl paint
She was sex in green
Loaded up the girl
That had me then
Always smiled
And not too thin
Jeans so right
Must have poured her in
With long, long hair
Blowing in the wind
Screaming that song
Made us both grin
'Till she moved away
Never saw her again

To get over that girl
Put my lead foot down
'Till the rods gave up
With a rickety sound
Buddies and beers
Tore that engine down
Bored to the max
And stroked it some
Too much cam
Now we're having fun
Grinding those heads
Sure was none
Little bitty spark
Made a rumbling sound
Then growled that song
Made us all grin
Loaded up our girls
Took it for a spin

Now she's under two tons
Seven hundred horses
And acres of chrome
With endless blacktop
Free to roam
Slide over here little lady
'Cuz we ain't staying home
Wear that old dress
Wanna' see it again
With your long, long hair
Blowing in the wind
Windows down
Turn the radio to ten
Gonna' scream that old song
That makes us both grin
Tonight little lady
Let's be young again
Screaming songs into the night
That make us both grin
