A nice talk

Suddenly somebody I honestly hadn't already heard or noticed arriving stopped directly next to me. I only heard their last step only a meter away from me. At the first moment, for only a fraction of a second, I couldn't see who it was because my eyes were still at my knees with my arms around them. Stupid Selena! This a very disadvantageous position!

My heart had double speed from one second to the other. I was so shocked and alarmed that I quickly moved into a position of defence to keep an attacker away. Only then I saw who had arrived.

"Fuck! Blake! You scared me to death!" I yelled as I recognized him.

"No need to." He laughed. "It's just me."

"Not funny!" I said with a very angry glance at him.

"Sorry." He still giggled and sat down next to me into the sand.

Blake looked at the endless horizon, where the sea and sky touched and for a moment he seemed like he was lost in that view. I followed his gaze and noticed once again how breathtaking it actually was. It was unbelievable how only water and air could create such a view...

"Why aren't you in the water?" He asked then.

I considered whether I should just tell him the truth or a lie... at the end I decided to ignore the question.

"Why aren't you with the others, creating new songs?" I asked instead.

He didn't answer either. Great.

We sat there for a few minutes and watched the sea. Without looking at him I asked, "I thought you wanted another lesson today? Where is your board and your clothes?"

Blake just shrugged his shoulders and said nothing for the first seconds. Then he said, "I thought we could just talk a bit..."

"It works good" I sarcastically replied.

"Yeah" he said half amused, half disappointed.

Then Blake finally decided to tell me why he wasn't with the others because, I assume, he knew I wouldn't tell him until he would answer as well.

"I was a bit... distracted today. Therefore the lads complained about me and Reece started to tell annoying and most notably wrong things about ... you and me and then it was too stupid for me and I left. They are very childish sometimes." Blake rolled his eyes.

Oh yes, I could imagine very good what they had said.

As I didn't answer he turned his head to watch me.

"They actually saw our kiss ..." he spoke out my thoughts.

"And understood it wrong." I added.

"Yeah..." he said, stretching the word what made me doubt. Hadn't we agreed that it had been only for distraction? Maybe I just interpreted too much into him.

"Will you tell me now why you stopped surfing and sit here alone?" Blake hadn't forgotten his question.

I sighed. Why was it even so important to him? "Well, I wasn't in the mood anymore?" It sounded more like a question than a statement.

Of course I could have told Blake the truth now that he knew my past anyway. I also was aware of my fears but admitting my weaknesses -in front of Blake!- was something very different.

"Aha." He said and sounded like he wanted me to know that he didn't believe me. I was such a bad liar.

We fell silent again. As Blake noticed that I wouldn't tell it from my own he pointed out, "You know that you can tell me everything? I am here for you."
