As we came back from the beach my brother had already finished dinner and all Blake and I had to do was to sit down at the table and start eating. I appreciated it a lot, thanks Adam. My belly hurt like hell.
Unfortunately it wasn't only that Blake and I came in and sat down next to the others and started eating peacefully. Like we had already expected, Blake's band members made loads of jokes about Blake and me.
So Reece started right when we opened the door. "Ah there they are!" He grinned. "Are you already done?"
"Shut up Reece." Blake said angrily and laid the surfboard onto the ground.
I walked to the table and sat down on my usual place. Normally, Blake sat on the other side, next to Reece who sat across from me. Next to my left was George and on my right was Adam. But this time, when Blake arrived at the table as well, George asked ironically politely and with a stupid grin on his face, "Shall we change the seat? So that you can sit next to Selena?"
"No thanks." Blake snapped at him, every word with emphasis. "It's just fine, stay where you are."
Reece giggled while Adam showed absolutely no reaction like always when the boys made fun of us. At least one normal person in this house. Besides Blake of course.
"And what about you?" I started, "Where is Eva today?" I'd like to mention here that I noticed only in that moment that the last days when Eva had been here was mainly because of Reece and not because of me.
"She has school stuff to do." Reece simply answered and shrugged his shoulders.
Then everyone stayed calm. It was obvious that Reece stood for his interest on Eva. I guessed that he only teased Blake and me because he thought that we wouldn't admit our feelings. The thing was, there were neither feelings nor something to admit. So his allusions were absolutely pointless and annoyingly.
"Talking of school," Adam finally prove his presence as well, "when do you plan to go to school again?"
That was a good question. I hadn't even thought of going back to school again... it was something unreal, a tedious little issue which I tried to ignore as long as I could. I never had anything against school itself, but the problem were the other students. Somehow I was completely unable to cope with the other students. I didn't know why but I absolutely couldn't get along with them, not even talking of studying with them what made group works very challenging. At least I hadn't been able to that one year ago but I didn't think that this had changed.
"Well... uhm... I don't know?" I mumbled.
I didn't even know when the next holidays would start or when the new school term had started. But apparently right now weren't holidays because Reece had said that Eva had school stuff to do.
Adam just gave me a gaze which said, 'We need to talk about it later.'
I was relieved that he wouldn't discuss it now, in front of the other boys. So I nodded. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the boys but I would have felt uncomfortable if we had talked about things like that...
After another break of talking George said "What's the plan for the evening? We could watch a movie."
The others agreed but didn't seem that delighted. It was like a normal reaction ... meanwhile Blake suddenly seemed to have a great idea. Now I was excited.
"Or we could" Blake said almost fevered, leaning both hands on the table, "have a night walk!"
I almost choked on my food and had to cough. What?!
Unfortunately George and Reece were very delighted and even excited as well and started talking at the same time. Adam seemed excited too but still didn't start talking. Instead he looked at me and pondered if I would cope with it. Well, I guessed I would have to.
Still looking shocked I stared at them and tried to find feverishly a better alternative. The boys saw me and Reece asked "How about you? You look like you just saw a ghost."
"Well, I didn't yet!" I replied sarcastically and hoped the others would hear my panic.
"Oh come on, this is gonna be cool! Some thrill will do you good!" He said. What? Why? How did he just conceive that?! 'No, I don't!' was all I thought.
After I looked with wide opened eyes into their faces and still tried to find a better idea. Without success. When I admitted my failure I sighed loudly and covered my face with my hands.
It seemed like I lost...
