Chapter 7: The new kid

I haven't seen Matt that much. It's been 2 days since our little moment when i got locked out. Today, it would be the first day of school.

I rolled on my side feeling extremely sleepy. All i wanted is to drift back to sleep. I grabbed my phone from the night table and turned the alarm off. I knew i had to get up. Wow I'm so not a morning person.

"Mia are you up? " Mariel knocked my door.

"Yeah what's up? " I yawned.

"Nothing, just to let you know Jake takes us to school today since he's going there as well. Be ready in like an hour? " She said.

"Okay let me take a shower. " I got up from my bed. The hot water running down my skin felt so damn good. I washed my hair and decided to straighten it. For todays outfit i would go for a black floral croptop, highwasted shorts and black vans. I applied my makeup and a little eyeliner to make it special. 

I went downstairs and saw that Darlene had made us sandwiches so i took one. Jake came down the stairs.

"Morning. " I said. 

"Hey. " Jake simply answered. He took one of Darlenes sandwiches and went to the living room. I wonder why is he so antisocial, I mean Mariel, Darlene and Ben are all so friendly and open. Maybe he's just the shy type.

Mariel came downstairs with a nervous look on her face. 

"Okay so i have keys, I've done my makeup, my hair... Is my outfit okay? " She asked. I was focused on my phone. She just stood there looking at me.

"Mia ! Answer me ! " She nervously said. I giggled. 

"Yes yes yes you look amazing. " I said and saw the relief on her face. 

"Why are you so nervous? " I laughed.

"Because it's the fricking first day of school ! How can you be so cool. " She ate a sandwich and shuffled around the house looking for stuff she needed to take with her to school.

We went out and Jake was outside waiting for us. 

"Shotgun ! " Mariel laughed and jumped on the front seat.

The drive wasn't that long, it took about 15 minutes.

"Jake are you going to be home today? Mom said to me I had to make dinner for us since she's going out with dad. " Mariel said to her brother. 

"Yea, but just so you know I'm having friends over. " He responded. "Sure you don't want just order pizza or something, I mean your not that great at cooking. " He laughed. Mariel punched her brother to the shoulder.

"For your information, I make the best pasta. " She laughed.

"I can help you out with that. " I said to her.

When we arrived to the school parking lot I saw a group of guys waiting for Jake. He got out of the car and went straight to them. Then I saw him. He turned around and smiled at me. Matt had the cutest smile. I gave him a little smile and turned around. The guys started walking towards us. Matts eyes were glued on me. 

"How's it going Mia? " He said as they walked buy. I just giggled a little. Mariel gave me the round eyes. 

"How the hell do you know him? " She asked me.

"He's our neighbour..? " I said casually.

"Umm yes he's been my neighbour for 15 years and the first time I talked to him was like 2 years ago. " She laughed. "You've been here for like a week ! "

"Well remember the time you had volleyball practice? I forgot my keys and I met him while I was locked out. We talked for just like 5 minutes, then Darlene came home and let me in. " I explained to her.

"Well he remembered your name and all... That's adorable. " Mariel said with a smirk on her face.

"Oh stop it! " I laughed as we were walking inside.

Soon we saw Kate, Baley, Molly and Sierra standing on the hallway. Baley saw me and Mariel first and rushed to hug us. I saw Sierra rolling her eyes. What's her deal? 

We just stood there chatting until I had to go get my schedule. Mariel showed me the way to the school office. There was an old lady with light hair sitting behind the desk. She greeted me friendly.

"Hello, how can I help you? " She asked me.

"Hi, my names is Mia Brinley and I'm here for my schedule. " I said to her. She was eyeing me behind her red glasses.

"Mia Brinley... " She muttered while typing my name on her computer. Soon she printed out my schedule.

"I assume your friend can give you a small tour around the school? " She said pointing towards Mariel.

"Actually I'm her cousin. " Mariel said. "And yes, I'll show her around. " She continued.

We left the office and headed to our first class. The first 3 periods rolled by pretty fast. I had English with Mariel, history with Kate and Molly, and math with Baley. Luckily me and Sierra didn't have any classes together because to be honest I don't like her and her bitchy attitude.We spent the lunch together sitting outside. The last lesson of the day was physical education and we had volleyball. Mariel loved it. I changed my clothes to yoga pants and a big white t-shirt. We walked to the school gym and it was huge, I couldn't believe my eyes. As I was making a ponytail I saw that the football players were having their practice inside. It was raining outside so they were doing muscle training. 

"Oh look who's here! Isn't it the football players... " Sierra said with a smirk on her face. Thirsty.

Then I saw Matt. He was standing there with Jake and some other dudes. He caught me staring and started to laugh from the other side of the hall. My cheeks went burning red. I smiled at him. 

The game started, I wasn't that bad but I didn't feel like doing sports. Mariel and Kate were all in. I was sitting on the bench with Baley and Sierra.

"Look at Matthew like oh my gosh he's so hot. " Sierra said her eyes glued on Matt. I got so pissed at her. But wait, I didn't even like Matt... or did I ?

After school Baley gave us a ride home. 

" Lets make some food. " Mariel said and started making pasta. Jake was already home.

After a while I heard a doorbell.

"Can you please get that? " Mariel asked me.

"Coming. " I said. I turned the handle and opened the door, I saw Matt standing outside. He gave me a big smile.
