In the pov of Mei

I heard a thud from the door.

I opened my eyes and looked around. Oh yeah, I'm still here. I frowned as I saw the conspicuously luxurious room.

I raised my body from the bed and wrapped the blanket around me. I was too upset last night to search for pajamas, so I slept naked.

I went to the door and quietly listened to the voices behind it.

They had disappeared.

I slid the door open enough to peek, and the hallway was empty if you didn't count for a couple of cardboard boxes.

I looked around, pulled the boxes one by one inside, and shut the door.

I opened the box and found my stuff inside it.

Had they raided my house?

Most likely, all of my clothes, other necessities, and surgical equipment were all in the boxes.

I still have a free today, but tomorrow I have a morning shift.

It's good I got these back.

I went through the box and pulled out my most comfortable clothes.

I have zero reasons to dress up nicely, so I might as well dress up comfy.

I took out my college pants and my simple light pink t-shirt. So I'll go with these.

I took my clothes and put them on. After dressing up, I put my hair in a messy bun on top of my hair and left my room wearing slippers that I found in the closet.

The clock was closing on seven and telling the truth. I didn't want to see that guy. I hope he has eaten already or is still sleeping.

I walked the already too familiar hallway towards the dining room, but now I think about it. I don't know anything else about the house. I have no idea where the rest of the things are.

I should inspect the house after breakfast.

The dining room was quiet, and a simple breakfast was served out for me.

I sat and ate as I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

I wonder who it is?

I picked up the phone and checked the new messages.

One new message from Chou.

Chou!

I fastly clicked the message open.

"Hei Meichi! It's been a while. I apologize I haven't kept in contact. I was invited to my father's funeral in China and just got back."

The phone informed me that he was still on his phone so I quickly wrote a reply.

"Chou! It's been a while. So u were at your father's funeral? I'm so sorry to hear that. So U never got to know him after all. I thought u had left permanently."
