In the pov of Mei

I sighed as I put my doctor's jacket on in my room.

Yamaguchi and I spent some time together yesterday after I came from work.

We ate together, talked, went to the shrine. He bought me a drink and as the year changed he hugged me.

It wasn't forceful. It wasn't impulsive. It was gentle and treasuring. He was really kind to me yesterday. He talked to me openly. Well, I think that after he opened up about his mother on Christmas, he changed.

He became assertive, gentle, and pleasant. He would smile brightly as I entered the room. His eyes would follow me while I was present. Well, I think he did these things before as well, but now I'm becoming aware of them for some reason.

I don't think he's annoying anymore either.

I left my room, and I heard a man shout at me as I did. I turned around to look, and it was a young man with black hair and eyes. He looked at me for a moment but then walked to me.

"Thank god I found you, doctor. But, my friend, he probably broke his leg in the yard over there." He pointed at a backyard near my office that was rarely visited during winter. Well, no yard was visited often during winter. It's too cold.

I nodded my head.

"Show me the way. If your friend broke his leg, he needs to be gotten inside, and we need to make sure the bone is in its correct place. Then, I should call someone to help me." He looked away for a moment but then looked at me again, worried.

"I will go get help. Could you go check on him first? He's probably freezing. He's in the small parking lot behind the yard." I nodded.

He's right. I need to make sure he's alright first.

"Go to the head nurse of this floor. Her office is over there and gets us some help. I will go see your friend."

I left before he could answer and left outside.

It really was cold. I ran to the parking lot and shouted for the man.

"Are you here! I'm a doctor from the hospital. Your friend sent me to look for you." As I shouted, a man limping his leg came towards me a little from behind a black car.

I rushed to him.

"You need to sit down. If the leg is broken, you can't be walking around." He smiled slightly.

"I am so sorry, doctor. I think my friend was just too shocked. It's not that painful." I got closer to him.

"Are you sure? I still need to check on you. Can you lean on the car? We should wait for help so that we can carry you, and you don't need to walk with that leg."

I was quite close already. I was ready to check his leg when he moved suddenly.

"I'm sorry, doc. You should be a little bit more careful." He apologized and before I could ask why his hand was on top of my mouth, and on it was a rag that smelled funny.

Chloroform. I would know this smell anywhere.

I tried to pull myself away before my body would go limp. I tried not to breathe, but I had already inhaled some of it.

I kicked and punched him, managing to land some hits, but my body got heavier, and his grip was firm.

The last thing I could see was the man that had come to ask for help walking to us alone and saying something to the man holding me.

I see. These men must be from the Chinese mafia.

As I became aware of it, my body went limp, and my eyes dark.

In the pov of Rei

It was evening already, and Angel had yet to come back home. I know her shift can change if there is a severe or complicated operation, but I can't but be worried about her.

I was lying on my bed when the door slammed open.

"Boss!" I looked at Kitamura angrily, but he didn't even flinch. That's rare. Something serious must have happened. I stood up and looked at him curiously.

"It's Ken boss. We found him near the house beat. We thought Mei could have helped him, but she's not home yet." I left the room fast and ran to Ken's room, where he was lying on a bed.

Riri was next to him, weeping quietly and washing his wounds with water.

I kneeled next to him and raised his body slightly.

"Ken? Can you hear me?" His eyes opened, and he looked at me, water in his eyes.

"I'm, sorry master. I couldn't protect her. I didn't expect there to be so many of them. I'm sorry, master." I shook my head.

"It's fine. I was the one who sent you without knowing what happened. Tell me, Ken. What happened?" He closed his eyes.

"I went to Chou's working place like you told me to, but he wasn't alone. That place isn't a simple café. It's a mafia den, and he's the leader. Chou is the leader of the Chinese mafia. There were too many for me to apprehend by myself. So I fought, but it wasn't enough, and they caught me.

I was taken to this underground cellar where Chou tied me and beat me every day. I think he was releasing his frustration on me. He kept hitting me, muttering the word Meichi. I believe that is a nickname for Ojou-sama. Finally, he got outraged one day. You had gotten on his tail. That's when he decided he couldn't let Ojou-san stay here any longer.

Ojou-san. She is safe, right? He told me that he was going to take her back."

My face fell, and I turned to look at the men behind me with a face so twisted in rage that they shivered.

"Find her! Turn every single stone and a corner and find her! I won't accept failures." They left the room fast, and I looked at Riri.

"Take care of Ken for me, would you?" I looked at her gently, and she nodded.

I left the room, rage filling my face.
