In the pov of Kitamura

The room was quiet apart from the tapping of the boss's finger against the table.

We were waiting for news from the people who had been guarding Ojou-san, but there was nothing for now. So after we learned where Ken had been kept, we went to inspect, but they had already left, leaving nothing behind.

No one has said anything aloud, afraid of the boss's reaction that we have no leads on Ojou-san's current location. It also seems like she wasn't wearing the necklace boss gave her for Christmas when she disappeared. We could have found her if she had, as it contained a tracking device. Its location was at the hospital. As we investigated, we found it in her office. She must have taken it off for her rounds.

Boss seems to be at his wit's end. I looked towards him, and he appeared anxious and annoyed both simultaneously.

His head raised from the table as there was a quiet knock, and the door slid open. The leader of Ojou-san's guards was there with a couple of his underlings. He seemed nervous as he walked to the boss.

"Boss. We have returned, and we got the surveillance films from the hospital." He gulped heavily and looked towards me, hoping to get help, but I simply looked away from him.

He may be my trainee, but he got this on him himself. Guarding Ojou-san was his job, and now it's his time to face the consequences of failing in that job.

He swallowed again and folded the monitor in his hand out, showing the feed from the hospital yard.

It was clearly shown how Ojou-san talked to a man standing next to a car looking really concerned. She approached, they spoke, and she turned away slightly. He attacked her, pushing a white cloth against her mouth. She fought for a moment, landing some quite impressive hits, but after a while, her body went limp against the man's arms, and another guy walked to them, and together they heaved her inside a car and left the scene.

As the feed ended boss looked at the guy with cold eyes.

"Tell me. Why weren't you there? You had one job, and that was to protect her. So how did you manage to fail?" The man twitched and glimpsed to the side again in panic.

There's no refuge you can take here.

"I thought she had entered an operation and because of that didn't think something was happening."

Boss's eyes hardened.

"Not even with what was going on with Ken, you didn't consider even for a moment that something might be wrong? Your job was to monitor her at all times. So why weren't you?"

There was sweat on his forehead.

"I didn't think. I thought she might want some peace. But, unfortunately, I wasn't careful enough. I'm truly sorry."

He bowed deeply, and the boss stood up. For a moment, I was surprised, even a little amazed. Would he forgive him?

Well, I was wrong.

He stood up and put his hand on his head, and with a fast and powerful slam, he mashed his head against the corner of the desk. I could hear a crack as his jaw dislocated and blood splurged out from his mouth to the table. He twitched for a moment against the desk, but then his body well limp next to the table, and his blood still flowed out of his mouth.

I looked at the two subordinates standing behind the corpse. They looked shocked and scared.

They are new recruits. This is probably the first time they have seen a person die.

"Boss your orders." He looked at me for a moment and breathed deeply.

"Dispose the body and manage this room to be cleaned. Also, search for the car in this video."

I bowed and was about to leave the room to complete the order when he stopped me with a hand raise.

"Now that I consider it, I can't let the other guards go without a punishment either. So please arrange for a yubitsume to be performed for all of them. Let's see. Just the tip is good." I bowed.

"Yes, boss."

I closed the door behind me and left to do the tasks given to me, but I have to admit yubitsume is quite brutal. Of course, they can't wield their swords the same anymore, but I guess it's okay. It's not like they can't use guns.

In the pov of Rei

I left the room after Kitamura. Spending time with a dead body isn't really my thing. I walked to my other office and sat down next to the desk as my monitor kept a voice announcing that I had a new message.

I pulled the monitor out and looked at it. I had a new email. I clicked it open and clicked my tongue as I saw it contained info about Mei.

I could see a picture of Mei tied up to a pole, mouth gagged. There was a time stamp on the image showing it was fresh, and on the email were a time and a place along with a message. "Came alone, and we might have a deal."

That sneaky bastard.
