I waited the month like I said I would, and it escalated to the point where one day Daniel sat me down with Louis on the couch and he was having trouble looking me in the eye, but he had no problem looking at Louis.
Once he finally began talking he managed to just look at me, that's when I started thinking that Daniel was planning on leaving me. I panicked and didn't even want to hear what Daniel had to say anymore, so I just bounced Louis on my lap as he just clapped, but Daniel picked Louis up and held him.
"Emma. I think I wanna leave the band," Daniel told me and I just looked at him.
"Daniel. You can't, it's gotten so successful you guys were going to go on a stadium tour," I replied, I would have rather Daniel leave me than the band because I knew how passionate he was about his music and I didn't want to be in the way of anything.
"Yeah, but I would be missing the birth of our second son since I'm literally leaving for it that month," Daniel admitted, "I wouldn't wanna do that to you and then be gone for more than seven months while you're stuck watching two kids and two dogs."
"Daniel. I think everything will be just fine, by then I'll have a house, my parents are going to be here the first few weeks after the baby is born. I love you a lot and I don't want you to let all this way too early family stuff ruin your entire career," I explained to him.
"But I just think I'm a terrible father, I'm always gone, I don't spend enough time with Louis, and I don't even live with you, and honestly I haven't taken you out on a date since Louis' been born, so I'm a terrible husband also," Daniel ranted to me, "And even saying the word husband was weird for me, we're both just nineteen."
"Exactly Daniel, we're just nineteen. You should do what a nineteen-year-old can do without this whole family life holding you back. You're a great father and a great husband because I know you love me and this family. How about you just move in with me and just go to the Why Don't We house when needed? You'll feel closer to both Louis and me. Trust me, Daniel, I know what's best for you and I know how much your career makes you happy. Where'd you even get these ideas from?" I pretended to not have a clue, but I knew it was Jonah.
"Jonah and a little from Corbyn," Daniel admitted, "They both said I'm not a good father."
"Daniel you're an amazing father, you know how much Louis adores you. Right, Louis. Don't you love Dada?" I asked Louis.
Louis smiled and just exclaimed, "Dada!"
"See, he adores you," I told Daniel, "And they have no right to judge you. They aren't fathers, are they? Exactly."
"I just don't enjoy the hate either, always on the news or media is talking about how I'm not a good father and how I don't even live with you," Daniel ranted.
"Well, that's going to change because you will live with me, and no one even sees the behind the scenes. How hard you work to balance your work and your family, but I see it and I appreciate it. Even when your on your tours I know how much effort you put in to Facetime me right before bed no matter what time it is for you," I replied kissing him on the cheek, "You're a great husband, and a great father and if you ever don't believe me just look at the amazing things we have and how spoiled, but unspoiled Louis is."
"Why are you so amazing?" Daniel asked, "You know exactly what to say, how to say it, it's like we're in a movie where the man is quickly convinced to do something"
"I know, maybe we are in a movie," I teased, "Anyway Daniel you go back to the house it's late, you have to talk to all the boys about moving out, and I have to put Louis to bed and I'm gonna have to talk to Corbyn and Jonah."
"Alright, good night," Daniel kissed me on the cheek and then bent down to Louis, "Good night Louis, I love you two."
Daniel left and then I put Louis to bed easily since he enjoyed sleeping a lot. Once Louis was asleep and in his world of dreams I sat on my living room couch and pulled out my phone ready to begin texting.
Me: Corbyn! I swear to god did you tell Daniel that he was a bad father?
Corbyn: I told him, but I didn't. I just said that he should spend more time with you and stuff and that he wasn't around enough for Louis.
Me: Well don't tell him that stuff, he considered leaving the band today. So stop it. He's a great father and husband in my eyes and every decision he makes is usually mine since I help him figure things out.
Corbyn: Alright fine...
Me: Now apologize when he gets home.
Corbyn: Fine, it's like you're my mother also.
Me: I try
That's when I switched over to Jonah's chat, I was slightly nervous since we weren't even close anymore and I knew what he had been saying because Zach always told me. I was able to get the courage to just confront him about everything.
Me: Hey, Jonah. What's this about Daniel being a bad father and husband?
Jonah: I'm sorry you heard about that, but I just think he isn't there for you and Louis enough, if you chose me and this happened to us I would have put family first. For fucks sake, we're going on a stadium tour all over the world and you're gonna have a second kid that Daniel won't be there for again. If it was me I wouldn't go and I'd just be there for you.
Me: Do you still like me, Jonah? Is that why?
Jonah: It's been more than a year and my thoughts about you haven't changed. I haven't told Daniel or anything cause he'd get pissed, but I can't control the way I feel. I can't control my thoughts on what if you picked me instead and what our life could have been like. I'm still in love with you and I can't even lie about it. Whenever I see you with him or even with Louis, it just crushes me.
Me: I'm sorry you feel this way, but it doesn't give you the right to make Daniel feel bad about himself. He wanted to leave the band because he felt as if he wasn't doing the right thing.
Jonah: Really?
Me: Yeah, and the stadium tour would probably have been canceled for all of you, I want him to follow his dreams I always encourage him to go, usually it's my choice what Daniel does and he just follows it. I want his dreams to come true, and they are. Wonderful bandmates, a wonderful family, and everything else.
Jonah: I'm sorry, forgive me?
Me: You should be telling that to Daniel.
